· CHICAGO, IL: 2-11 Alarm fire and EMS Plan I (5-AMB) b/o 2-2-1 at 260 E. Chestnut. Fire in a residential High-Rise. Numerous calls for people trapped. [CHGO-1]. 12:54a.m.

· CHICAGO, IL: 3-11 Alarm fire and EMS Plan II (10-AMB's) @ 260 E. Chestnut b/o 2-2-1 [CHGO-1]. 1:04a.m.

· Update on CHICAGO, IL: 3-11 Alarm: 45-story residential High-Rise 100x300. Heavy fire out windows on 13th floor. (6) injured members pushed back by heavy fire conditions. Still trying to get water on the fire. [CHGO-1]. 1:08a.m.

· CHICAGO, IL: 2-11 Alarm fire at 260 E. Chestnut: Same building as earlier w/fire on 16th floor. Extra alarm was only in for 5-minutes. They need Companies to check common plumbing walls from 15th floor and up. [CHGO-1]. 5:00a.m.

· LEROY TWP, (INGHAM Co.), MI: **3rd Alarm Equiv.+** 2671 Elm Ct. Fully involved garage fire w/2 cars, welding tanks, propane & ammunition. Numerous M/A requests. [FNNM-644] (c). 9:05a.m.

· STLFN: PACIFIC (FRANKLIN Co.), MO: Pacific FPD has a 1st Alarm barn fire @ 2464 Highway N. [STL810]. 9:09a.m.

· STLFN: Overnight Report: LEMAY (ST. LOUIS Co.), MO: Lemay FPD had a 1st Alarm house fire at 1215 Marchi x Mount Olive. Heavy smoke from a 1-story frame house. There was a fire at this same location on Sunday as well. [STL810]. 9:15a.m.

· Update – NEWARK, NJ: 2nd Alarm Box 5119 @ 125 thru 131 Ferry St. All heavy fire knocked down. Still have pockets of fire & heavy smoke condition. S/C for an additional Truck. Fire remains DWH. [EAN388/100]. 10:07a.m.

· SURFSIDE BEACH (HORRY Co.), SC: *LODD* It is with deep regret to announce the death of Asst. Chief Tom Andersen as a result of a cardiac arrest while operating at a working fire @ 6th Ave @ Ocean Blvd. A 2-story wood frame Condo with fire on the 2nd floor – well involved. [CFP803*702]. 7:52p.m.

1907 E33 Southwark 4 pump chemical incident near the Holiday Inn Express on Southwark St, 5 litre plastic container with unknown contents thrown from a vehicle onto sidewalk and roadway, product identified as a mineral acid, neutralized w/soda ash, decon.

0225 E23 East Greenwich Persons reported fire (fatal) at 35 Inigo Jones Rd, fire in a 1st flr apartment using 1 hosereel, 1 civilian rescued, died en route to hospital.

0327 H35 Tooting Persons reported fire (fatal) at 90 elmbourne Rd, fire in a 1st flr apartment using 1 hosereel, 1 civilian found DOA.

<br />***BALTIMORE, MARYLAND FIRE HISTORY***

for January 21st:

1962: Baltimore County: T-5 (Halethorpe - Washington Blvd & Halethorpe Farms Rd) placed in service using an Amercian LaFrance 100' Tiller Truck. (HHAE)

1969: 8 Alarms + Special Call 6 Engines - 6-6-2722 & 2-2-2621 - 0350hrs - Chase & McDonogh Sts - Northeast Of Downtown - Fire involved the 87 year old Samuel Chase Elementary School #135 - Flames were showing from windows on all 4 sides & when they burst through the roof, 6 alarms were quickly sounded - 2 alarms (8th Alarm) from adjacent Box#2621 plus (2) special 2-10-3 calls (6 Engines) were struck out as the school was a total loss - Three youths were reported to have fled the school with armsful of loot, just before the flames were observed by passing policemen. (CHM1*TUH)

1989: Box#633 - Key Hwy & Lawrence St, Port Covington (South Baltimore) - 1928hrs, Box#5621 - Charles St & Fort Ave, South Baltimore - 2056hrs, Box#5324 - Hanover & Montgomery Sts, Otterbein (South Of Downtown) - 2057hrs, & Box#683 - #35 Engine House, 405 Maude Ave - Brooklyn (South Baltimore) - 2120hrs - A strong odor permeated the air in South Baltimore & everybody knew there was a problem somewhere, but it just took time to find where it was coming from - It was finally discovered that there was a faulty valve @ ChemClear, a chemical waste recovery company @ Bush & Russell Sts in the Carroll Industrial Park, South Of Downtown - The fumes leaking from the valve made people all over South Baltimore sick to their stomachs - 19 firefighters were transported to University Of Maryland Hospital for treatment. 1997: 2 Alarms - Box#734 - 0926hrs - 18 Ashburton St - West Baltimore - Fire burned out the 1st floor of a 2 story rowhouse - The fire, which was caused by careless smoking, resulted in $40,000 in damages - The 2 adjoining dwellings were slightly damaged. (TGA)
