· Update – 2nd Alarm – ROCKLAND, MA: Box 4122 at the End of George “Jefferson School.” OIC reports fire knocked down. Checking for extensions. [TAC9-C67]. 6:00a.m.

· Update - 2nd Alarm - CAMBRIDGE, MA: Fire in a 1 story Restaurant 40x100. Companies making progress. C105/C461 [TAC9-C79]. 6:04a.m.

· WILLINGBORO (BURLINGTON Co.), NJ: **2nd Alarm** 25 Industrial Dr. Company name is Hi-Tech Spec Metals. Numerous EMS Units requested to the fire and M/A Fire Dept South is at the L/Z. [EAN388]. 9:08a.m.

· STLFN: JEFFERSON Co., MO: Hillsboro FPD - 1st Alarm fire at 1011 Valley Drive. Fire in a garage, which is attached to the house. Move-up being made. [STL810]. 11:35a.m.

· ATLANTIC CITY, NJ: ***4th Alarm*** on Virginia Ave. Fire a vacant occupied multiple dwelling with extension to exposures. Heavy fire. M/A to work & cover. [MNS-30*]. 11:44a.m.

· STLFN: JEFFERSON Co., MO: Update - Hillsboro FPD’s 1st Alarm fire at 1011 Valley Drive: S/C an Ambulance for a burn victim. Unknown if civilian or Firefighter. [STL810]. 11:44a.m.

· ATLANTIC CITY, NJ: *4th Alarm* 2 S. Virginia Ave. Heavy fire in 2 buildings with possible extension to a 3rd exposure. Fire is very DWH. [EAN216]. 11:50a.m.

· STLFN: BROOKLYN (ST.CLAIR Co.), IL: Brooklyn FD is on the scene of a MVA at Wabash Curve in Brooklyn. Second call for Mutual Aid from Fairmont City FD for extrication equipment. NFI. [STL997]. 1:16p.m.

· WHITELAND (JOHNSON Co.), IN: 2nd Alarm at 400 Hummingbird Lane. 2-story house destroyed. M/A Greenwood Ladder, Bargersville, New Whiteland, Franklin with Engines. [INDY-12]. 2:30p.m.

· BETHEL TWP., PA: 2nd Alarm - 25 Mill Rd. Barn fire. Request Tanker Task Force. [PA33/EAN10]. 2:37p.m.

· PRINCE GEORGES Co., MD: Apartment fire *CPR on 3-yr old & adult female* 9309 19th Ave. (Co34-Chillum Adelphi). Fire 2nd floor apartment knocked down. 6 other rescues from rear & other victims being treated by EMS. [DC2]. 2:41p.m.

· CAMDEN (CAMDEN Co.) N.J: *2nd Alarm* 1162 Mt. Vernon St. Heavy fire out 2nd floor of a 2-story middle of row. DWH [EAN3305]. 5:36p.m.

· KANSAS CITY, MO: Working house fire @ 900 NE 115th St. x Holmes. 1-story frame with fire thru the roof. CAR108, P3, P38, Q44, R16, T12. [KCFN-02]. 7:38p.m.

· Update – KANSAS CITY, MO: Working house fire @ corrected address of 1007 NE 115th Street x N. Oak Trafficway. 2 small lines used on a single-family dwelling. Fire now under control. [KCFN-02]. 7:53p.m.

· STLFN: JEFFERSON Co., MO: High Ridge FPD has a 1st Alarm structure fire on Little Antire Rd between Timber Woods and Nollman Rd. Building at least 50% involved. [STL810]. 8:11p.m.

· HARRISONVILLE (CASS Co.), MO: Working fire @ 509 N. Main behind the Sheriff Dept. Reported as a large structure – fully involved. South Metro FPD M/A. [KCFN-02]. 8:14p.m.

· STLFN: JEFFERSON Co., MO: Update - High Ridge FPD’s 1st Alarm fire on Little Antire Rd and Nollman Rd: S/C for several extra pieces of equipment to respond to the fire. [STL810]. 8:17p.m.

· GRANDVIEW (JACKSON Co.), MO: Working fire @ 15330 71st Highway x 155th Street. Reported as a Commercial structure – with smoke/fire showing. South Metro FPD M/A Belton & Lee’s Summit change of Quarters. [KCFN-02]. 8:48p.m.

· LIBERTYVILLE, IL: A 2nd Alarm on Tanker Box #4-59 at Route 21 (Milwaukee Ave) & Janus (approx. ˝ mile North of Route 137). First Company on scene reporting a fully involved house. [CHGO6/6A/118] ©. 9:07p.m.

· LIBERTYVILLE (LAKE Co.), IL: A 4th Alarm on Tanker Box #4-59 at Route 21 (Milwaukee Ave) and Janus (approx. ˝ mile North of Route 137). First Company on scene reported a fully involved house. [CHGO6/6A/118/150/151$] ©. 9:22p.m.

· LIBERTYVILLE (LAKE Co.), IL: A 2nd Alarm on manpower Box #4-39 at the scene of the 4th Alarm Tanker Box #4-59 at Milwaukee Ave (Route 21) & Janus. Reported as a 2-story frame residence 80x50 well involved. [CHGO6/6A/118/150/151*] (C). 10:11p.m.

· STLFN: MAPLEWOOD (ST. LOUIS Co.), MO: Maplewood FD has a working structure fire at 7265 Lyndover. No size-up heard but they have at least one line off. [STL819]. 10:26p.m.

· STLFN: ST. LOUIS, MO: STLFD has a working house fire at 2719 Dodier. They report 1 line off and BC 801 reports the fire is under control. PUMPERS 8 17 10 AND BC 801. [STL819]. 10:29p.m.

· KANSAS CITY, MO: Working fire @ 9600 Wornall x 96th St. “Historic Farmhouse.” 1-story frame with smoke showing. Reported fire in the basement & rear. 2 small lines off. CAR107, P36, P37, Q28, R7, T8, T13. [KCFN-02]. 10:46p.m.

<br />*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

<br />01/24/02 Multi-fatality fire Bethpage, MO (McDonald County) 4 adults and 3 children died in a mobile home fire in this rural southwest Missouri town. 6 other occupants, 2 adults and 4 children, escaped the blaze, however the 7 who died were trapped in a back bedroom. The McDonald County Sheriff's Department stated that the mobile home was located at the end of a gravel road in a remote area and was fully involved upon arrival of emergency responders.

<br />***BALTIMORE, MARYLAND FIRE HISTORY***

for January 25th:

1945: 4 Alarms - Box#7 - 0109hrs - 1901 Washington Blvd - Carroll Park (Southwest Baltimore) - Fire involved the 2 story warehouse of The Washington Lumber Company - Flames were shooting 75' into the air as an icy northwest wind was blowing & the temperature was 15 degrees - BC-10, Joseph Twilley, sounded the 2nd & 3rd alarms when a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad storage shed 2 blocks away caught fire from flying embers - DC-1, George D. Otter, ordered a 4th alarm sounded @ 0203hrs - A million feet of lumber were damaged by fire & water - The owner of the building informed Chief Otter that he would foot the expense if the firefighters were given a rest period to thaw out & eat in an all night restaurant nearby, & the request was granted. (TUH)

1955: 6 Alarms - Box#568 - 0230hrs - 306-308 W Baltimore St - Downtown West - Fire involved a 5 story brick loft building - The fire started in the Silver Dollar Night Club on the 1st floor & shot up the elevator shaft & through the roof with flames 50' into the air - Acting DC-1, James Schaeffer, BC-10, order 6 alarms in 15 minutes as all 5 floors became involved - The fire was a stubborn one, burning for over 5 hours - Guests @ the New Howard Hotel fled as the flames beat up against the side wall of the hotel & Chief Engineer Michael H. Lotz ordered a water curtain thrown up the narrow back alley (Fairmount Ave) - @ 1 time, the monitor pipes of the High Pressure Hose wagons were leveled into the ground floor of the night club - Several hours later the upper portion of the back wall fell to the ground - Injured were Firefighters William L. Holstein, E-38, Charles Pinkus, T-16, Ellwood L. Fletcher, E-18, & Lester Cherry, E-15. (CHM1*TUH)

1990: 3 Alarms - Box#72 - 0437hrs - 709 S Caton Ave - Southwest Baltimore - A smokey fire involved the Poly Guard, Incorporated building - The company, involved in rubber milling, suffered extensive damage. (TGA)

Dearborn St. *Jan 26, 1860 ENGINE 5 “U.P. Harris” organized at 550 W. Jackson St. *Jan 26, 1955 the FDNY was requested to send two fireboats across the Hudson River to Hoboken, NJ for a major conflagration at Pier 2. The FIREFIGHTER with men from ENGINE 10 & LADDER 15 responded and worked 65 hours; the HARVEY responded with men from ENGINES 3, 24 & LADDER 5 and worked 38 hours. The FIREFIGHTER is still in service as Marine 9, and the HARVEY (Marine 2) is retired & privately owned. [CHGO-18]. 9:09p.m.

25JAN1998 - French Alps - Avalanche - Eleven perish in an avalanche on an Alpine ridge. A group of students and adult chaperones ignored yellow and black avalanche warning flags as they trekked across the an alpine ridge. Fresh powder gave way, sweeping the group down the mountain.

25JAN1991 - Cove Neck, New York - Aviation Accident - An Avianca Boeing 737 crashes runs out of fuel and crashes on the banks of this Long Island, community. 85 injured and 73 are killed.

25JAN1982 - Ontario, New York - Nuclear Accident/HAZMAT - A reactor malfunction causes the release of radioactive gas into the atmosphere.

25JAN1969 - Laurel, Mississippi - HAZMAT - A BLEVE occurs during a tank car derailment.

25JAN1937 - Florida - Road Accident - Miami-to-Tampa bus overturned in a canal, killing 13 people.

25JAN1904 - Cheswick, Pennsylvania - Mine Accident - 179 die in coal mine explosion.
