Hello Everyone,

First I should probably tell you that I'm a published author. I write romances and I'm always looking for new occupations for my characters. I've decided that my next heroine will be a fire fighter. The problem is, I know nothing about the business. I plan on doing extensive research, but what I really need is a female who's willing to talk about her job and answer questions for me. I can't pay you for this (not that rich) but I will give you credit for technical assistance when and if the novel is published. Is there a kind-hearted soul out there who will help me get the details right? You can email me at <jetwriter@geocities.com> Willing to talk to males also.

Good for you for highlighting the valuable role that women play in the fire service! My first suggestion, if you want to make the book at all realistic, is to purchase a firefighting "how to" book. I'm sure that Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com would have something to help you. Secondly, while e-mailing is good, I would suggest that you go down to your local fire department and develop a relationship with the men and women there. That way you can see first hand the complicated relationships of men and women in the fire service. Good luck on your book!!!
