Does anyone have any good reading material that they can recommend (other than IFSTA material)?

Two books saved my life: Collapse of Burning Buildings by Vincent Dunn, and Fire Department Operations with Modern Elevators by Max McRae. Oldies? Yes, but real goodies!

I recently read FIGHTING FIRE, by Caroline Paul. The book was awesome. It doesn't go into tactics, or truck company operations, but it goes into being a paid/full time female firefighter. It made me realize how bad it use to be, and how much things have changed.

Brannigan's Building Construction book (I don't recall the exact name of it) -- I used for a college course and it was one the few fire science texts that teaches you everything you ever needed to know.

Fighting Fire is HIGHLY recommended. Even though I'm a guy the book made some really strong points and made me reexamine the way I treat the females on my company. Just to clarify that, I never treated them badly, just different, as if they were my little sisters. Which I guess made them feel as if I thought they couldn't do anything dangerous, which wasn't the case, I just didn't want to see them take a chance at getting hurt. Oh well, I'm now reformed. lol
Diane... Building Construction for the Fire Service By Frank Brannigan. I also highly recommend this book.
