Funeral Policy

With the recent loss of so many of our brothers, our depart wants to develop a policy on how to handle thus unfortunate loss. We are looking for policys or guidelines that will guide us in formulating or own. We are also searching for any information concerning federal & State of Illinois funds or benifits available for survivers.

William C. Peters developed a protocol for fire department funerals that is a good model for a starting point. He published it through PennWell Publications (Fire Engineering magazine). The number on the back of the pamphlet is (201) 845-0800. Batt. Chief Peters is (or maybe was -- it's been a couple of years since he sent it to me) with Jersey CIty FD.
