-2009hrs - 2nd Alarm - 104 W. 53rd (Garden City FD) = Have a 2 stry 60' x 30' fire resistive commercial welding shop with heavy fire in the attic and storage spaces - numerous lines off - Ladder 1's pipe is up.

-2019hrs - WF - 355 N 30th #P104 (Downtown) = Have 3 stry multi-unit apartment bldg w/ fire in 1st floor unit furnace and ducts - using 1+1, T.I.
Jan 20th
Heavy Snow's are creating havoc on the roads numerous MVA's
-1333hrs - Multi-auto MVA (including 2 ski buses) - Bogus Basin Rd at MP 9 -11 = Have a 25 car pile up on winding Mountain Road to Bogus Basin Ski Area (just north of Boise) - numerous EMS and Fire units o/s.
-1736hrs - MVA/Ext - Chinden Blvd @ Garrett St (Garden City FD) = Have 2-auto t-bone w/ 2-pinned.

1500hrs. Still 1542 Whitcomb. Eng 9 reports a working fire in a 1.5 story brick occupied dwelling. Engs 9,13, Ladder4, Squad2.
1/27/02
0530hrs. 1542 Whitcomb, Eng 9 reports, same house as earlier, with fire blowin out the windows. Engs 9,13 Ladder 4, Squad2. House was reset apparent domestic dispute.
1904 hrs. Still 39th Mass, Eng 5 reports a worker in a 30x 50 comm building. Engs 5,10, Ladder 4, Squad2. While companies were working this fire another fire came in two blocks over. Squad2 picked up and reported a 30x 50 comm building goin thru the roof. While companies were at this fire, Capt Miller of Engine 10 in own POV reported a working fire 3 blocks from this fire. Squad 2 again picked up and reported a vacant 2 story frame 30x 40 with heavy smoke showin and needing a line!!!! 3 good working fires, all in a 3 block area all within 30 minutes of each other.
"Banner night in the Glen Park section of Gary" then at 0230hrs 2224 Pierce – Still - Engine 2 reports heavy fire in a occupied 1.5 story bungelow. ENG’s: 2, 4, Ladder4, Squad2.
1-28-02- 1810hrs Box 15th and MLK Drive, Engine 2 reports heavy smoke from station, on scene with a 1 story comm autobody shop, goin thruout.

· Chicago FireHISTORY: for Jan 28: In 1961 at 0623hrs Engine 17, 42, Truck 2, Squad 2 & BTN 5 were sent to 600 W. Hubbard St. (@ Jefferson) for a fire in a 7-story brick 200x250. As Companies were working on the building plus a 2-story 100x100 next door, the 7-story building collapsed. 9 members of the CFD were killed: Chiefs of the 1st & 5th Battalions, Lieutenants from Truck 19 & Engine 114, Firefighters from Engine 26 (2), 44, Squad 2 & Squad 10. *Box 286 @ 06:24hrs, 2-11 @ 06:20hrs, 3-11 @ 06:31hrs, 4-11 @ 6:35hrs, 5-11 @ 06:40hrs. 1st Special (5 Engines) @ 06:43hrs, 2nd Special (5 Engines) @ 06:50hrs. Temp was –14 degrees. [CHGO-18].

1500hrs. Still 1542 Whitcomb. Eng 9 reports a working fire in a 1.5 story brick occupied dwelling. Engs 9,13, Ladder4, Squad2.
1/27/02
0530hrs. 1542 Whitcomb, Eng 9 reports, same house as earlier, with fire blowin out the windows. Engs 9,13 Ladder 4, Squad2. House was reset apparent domestic dispute.
1904 hrs. Still 39th Mass, Eng 5 reports a worker in a 30x 50 comm building. Engs 5,10, Ladder 4, Squad2. While companies were working this fire another fire came in two blocks over. Squad2 picked up and reported a 30x 50 comm building goin thru the roof. While companies were at this fire, Capt Miller of Engine 10 in own POV reported a working fire 3 blocks from this fire. Squad 2 again picked up and reported a vacant 2 story frame 30x 40 with heavy smoke showin and needing a line!!!! 3 good working fires, all in a 3 block area all within 30 minutes of each other.
"Banner night in the Glen Park section of Gary" then at 0230hrs 2224 Pierce – Still - Engine 2 reports heavy fire in a occupied 1.5 story bungelow. ENG’s: 2, 4, Ladder4, Squad2.
1-28-02- 1810hrs Box 15th and MLK Drive, Engine 2 reports heavy smoke from station, on scene with a 1 story comm autobody shop, goin thruout.

· Chicago FireHISTORY: for Jan 28: In 1961 at 0623hrs Engine 17, 42, Truck 2, Squad 2 & BTN 5 were sent to 600 W. Hubbard St. (@ Jefferson) for a fire in a 7-story brick 200x250. As Companies were working on the building plus a 2-story 100x100 next door, the 7-story building collapsed. 9 members of the CFD were killed: Chiefs of the 1st & 5th Battalions, Lieutenants from Truck 19 & Engine 114, Firefighters from Engine 26 (2), 44, Squad 2 & Squad 10. *Box 286 @ 06:24hrs, 2-11 @ 06:20hrs, 3-11 @ 06:31hrs, 4-11 @ 6:35hrs, 5-11 @ 06:40hrs. 1st Special (5 Engines) @ 06:43hrs, 2nd Special (5 Engines) @ 06:50hrs. Temp was –14 degrees. [CHGO-18].

28JAN1977 - Teresopolis, Brazil - Landslide - A mud slide, caused by 12 inches in less that 24 hours takes 12 shanties down the mountainside. As a result, 27 die and 60 suffer injuries.
28JAN1922 - Central Atlantic Coast, USA - Winter Storm - 25 inches of snow in 24hr. period. Knickerbocker Theatre in Washington, D.C. collapses, 100 die.
