· STLFN: ST. LOUIS, MO: Update STLFD’s 1st Alarm house fire on Finney at Vandeventer. Fire on the 2nd floor of a 2 sty brick. One line off. Fire under control. Co.'s making a primary search. [STL810]. 3:23p.m.

· LARGO (PRINCE GEORGE's Co.), MD: Major MVC @ Capitol Beltway & Central Ave. An SUV jumped over the median & landed on a minivan causing **5** fatalities & 3 critical victims. [DC3, 51]. 10:09p.m.

· ESFN: Hazmat – SEAFORD (SUSSEX Co.), DE: Dupont Nylon Plant - Hazmat Incident with injuries** 87 Command with rapid moving oil spill on the Nanticoke. Request STA 71, 81 & DNREC-1 to assist. 1 pt xport to Nanticoke hosp with unknown type injuries. STA 87 on initial. [ESFN-4/51]. 10:28p.m.

· ESFN: Hazmat – SEAFORD (SUSSEX Co.), DE: Dupont Nylon Plant – Update: Crews advising a large amount of oil has spilled on the Nanticoke River. STA 87, 81, 71, & DNREC Marine Units deploying booms. Attempting to find source of leak at this time. [ESFN-4]. 10:32p.m.

· ESFN: Hazmat – SEAFORD (SUSSEX Co.), DE: Dupont Nylon Plant – Update: Marine Units advising the oil spill is well downriver due to the winds & tides. Oil also in the marsh along the river. Boom trailers from numerous Co.'s on scene. [ESFN-4/51]. 11:27p.m.

· BALTIMORE, MD (14-5): **2nd Alarm b/o BC-3 (Buckholtz)** Dwelling at 326 S. Smallwood St. (SW of Downtown). *Urgent request for Firefighters trapped*. [DC/BMD/E*23]. 11:42p.m.

· Update - BALTIMORE, MD (14-5): 2nd Alarm - dwelling @ 326 S. Smallwood St. Shift Commander reports *All Firefighters are accounted for* Co.'s to evacuate 2nd floor of original fire building. Roof in danger of collapse. [DC/BMD/E*23]. 11:59p.m.

Boise, Idaho Report

Jan 24th
-1130hrs - General Alarm Fire (6+ Alarms) - Emmett FD (35 miles NW of Boise) = Have a Boise Cascade Lumber mill 50% involved, building is 4 stry heavy timber approx. 1000' x 250'- 20+ apparatus w/ 60+ FF's from 10 Idaho & Oregon FD's.

-2342hrs - 2nd Alarm - 12284 W. Billabong St (West Boise & MFD) = 1 stry SFD heavy fire to bedroom area's.


Jan 25th
-0442hrs - Fatal Fire - 424 W. Cherry Ln #111 (MFD) (same units as Billabong fire) = MH SFD - fully involved - 1 DOA, 1 inj'd - Started by Oxygen dependant smoker (not the one that died).


Jan 26th
-0146hrs - MVA/Ext - Black Cat Rd @ Overland Rd (MFD) = 1 auto rollover - 1 pinned

-1921hrs - Double Fatal MVA - EB I-84 @ MP66 (Southeast) = Have an auto that crashed into tow truck loading disabled auto. One DOA in auto and owner of disabled is DOA.


Jan 29th
-1930hrs - Fatal Auto vs. Ped - 10th @ State (Downtown) = Have YMCA bus that struck and ran over ped in cross walk. Vctm died next day.

***BALTIMORE, MARYLAND FIRE HISTORY***

for February 1st:

1872: E-9 was organized & placed in active service in new quarters on the southwest corner of Madison & Regester Sts, East Of Downtown - A 2 story brick building on a lot 150'x33', costing $12,000 & the lot $2,640 - There are (2) doors for the exit of the apparatus & a bell, struck by telegraph, in the tower - They received a new Ives Steam Engine - Their 1st Foreman was Francis D. Kerr from E-4 - On 2/16/1969 they relocated to the quarters of T-5 @ Harford Ave & Oliver St, Northeast Of Downtown - They were disbanded on 4/12/1978. (TUH*CHM2)

1906: E-28 organized - On 6/4/1906 they were placed in active service in the quarters of Hook & Ladder #5 @ Harford Ave & Oliver St, pending completion of their own quarters @ Mount Royal & Guilford Aves, North Of Downtown - They received a new LaFrance Metropolitan Steam Engine - Their 1st Captain was Louis Buhler, a promoted Lieutenant from E-23 - On 11/20/06 they moved into new quarters on the west side of Guilford Ave, @ Mount Royal Ave - It is a 2 story building on a lot 147'x45', costing $23,000 & the lot $8,473 - On 9/29/1989 they were disbanded & combined with T-2 @ Steadman Station to form Aerial Tower-102 - AT-102 was disbanded on 2/2/2002 & T-2 reorganized. (TUH*CHM2*D6)

1923: A half frozen boy ran into the quarters of E-12 @ Fort & Riverside Aves, South Baltimore @ 0205hrs - He was so cold that he couldn't talk, just gesticulate - Captain Harry A. Dolle, High Pressure Service Hose Co#4, tried to put the boy on the hose wagon, but without success - Firefighter John Kleinsmith thought he recognized him as living @ 111 Clayton Ct - High Pressure Service Hose Co#4 rolled on a verbal silent alarm & discovered flames shooting from the upper windows of the small 2 story brick rowhouse - Box#64, Light & Heath Sts, was sounded @ 0210hrs - Informed that the occupants were still upstairs, Captain Dolle, Lieutenant Henry Weber, & Firefighter Joseph H. Doyle, entered the blazing rowhouse & found a female adult civilian & (2) female children, ages 10 & 13, unconscious in their bed, carried them down a ladder to the ground, but they were dead from suffocation by the smoke & heat - The 16 year old boy ran 4 blocks to report the fire, clad only in his underclothes. (TUH)

1946: 6 Alarms - Box#8231 - 2205hrs - Belair Rd & Frankford Ave - Gardenville (Northeast Baltimore) - Fire involved the Belair Bowling Alley - Earlier that day, Lieutenant Frederick P. Klaburner, E-42, sat @ his desk & wrote a request for retirement before going off duty @ 0800hrs - @ the age of 74, he was going to take it easy, doing a little gardening & vegetable growing in his nearby home - On duty again @ 1800hrs, his company responded to a silent alarm @ 2201hrs to the Belair Bowling Alley, Belair Rd & Frankford Ave - Smoke was billowing out into the street & Lieutenant Klaburner quickly sized up the situation & ordered Box#8231 sounded @ 2205hrs - Rushing into the burning building & working his way to the rear where fire was showing around the ceiling, he had scarcely opened the hosepipe when a terrific explosion took place & flames shot everywhere - The men dropped the hose line, turned & ran for their lives - Firefighter George Youngman looked back & when he didn't see his Lieutenant, turned back & tried his best to reach him, but collapsed & was rescued himself, just in the nick of time, but not before he was badly burned - The fire blasted out over Belair Rd & 6 alarms were sounded in the next 30 minutes as the fire destroyed the bowling alley & damaged the stores in front of the building - The badly burned body of Lieutenant Klaburner was recovered from the ruins - He was buried in Parkwood Cemetery on 2/5/46. 1961: 5 Alarms - Box#14-251 - Lombard & Greene Sts - Downtown West - Fire involved the University Of Maryland Outpatient Clinic. (CHM1)

1975: 6 Alarms - Box#755 - 3107 W North Ave - Walbrook (Northwest Of Downtown) - Fire involved a 2 story woodframe apartment building & 1 story brick pharmacy - There was (1) civilian fatality. (CHM1)

1993: 3 Alarms + Task Force(E's 6 & 23, T-23, & EMS-4) - Box#3828 - 1845hrs - 1825 Pennsylvania Ave - Upton (Northwest Of Downtown) - Fire involved the 2 story brick Andrews & Son Roofing & Television Company - The fire spread to (2) adjacent 2 story dwellings & forced (6) residents out of their homes - Nobody was injured in the fire which is believed to be accidental in nature. 1998: 2 Alarms + Special Call 1 Engine(14) - Box#7456 - 0657hrs - 3510 W Franklin St - Edmondson Village (West Baltimore) - Fire involved a 2 story brick rowhouse. (TGA)

1998: 3 Alarms - Box#8852 - 1928hrs - 3409-3413 DuPont Ave - Park Heights (Northwest Baltimore) - Fire involved (3) brick rowhouses. (TGA)

2001: 3 Alarms - Box#19-13 - 1927hrs - 2019-2025 Saint Paul St - Charles Village (North Of Downtown) - Fire involved (4) 3 story brick vacant rowhouses. (TGA)
