Autopsy finds smoke inhalation killed family. Services Saturday for Rankin pastor, wife, three children

Five members of a Rankin County family killed Tuesday, Jan.29, 2002 in a house fire all died of smoke inhalation, according to autopsy results released Friday.

Patrick Jermaine Littles, 19, of Hazlehurst was charged with arson, said Troy Davis, a criminal investigator with the Copiah County Sheriff's Department.

Somers, WI
House Fire

At 1320hrs, Kenosha Co. Dispatched Somers Fire & Rescue to the 200 blk of 56th Ave. for a reported house fire. Upon arrival command called in for extra tankers to the scene. The house was a 1 1/2 story brick frame home. No one was home at the time the fire broke out; and there were no injuries. Dept's on scene were; Somers, Mt.Pleasant, & Pleasant Prairie along with Racine Fire Bells for rehab. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The cause of the fire in Somers on the 200 blk of 56th Ave. was caused by faulty electrical stove. Firefighters also found a perished cat after the fire was put out.

Mobile, AL: 5th alarm overnight.

The old Masonic Lodge on St. Joseph Street is a total loss. The vacant building has been vacant for years. People who live on the Eastern Shore, more than 10 miles away, reported they could see the flames. Another fire broke out at North Royal and Dauphin Streets. It was most likely caused by embers from the first fire.

It took firefighters several hours to bring the blaze under control. They were busy throughout Saturday morning putting water on the fire and on nearby buildings to keep the fire from spreading.

Barn Fire

At 0326 hrs, Caledonia & Mt.Pleasant fire was dispatched to the 10100 blk of 4 Mile Rd. to a reported barn fire with animals inside. The structure was a 20 x 40 Ft. pole barn. The first rig in reported heavy fire coming from the barn. Electrical wires were arching as well.

Inside the barn was the animals such as; rabbits, geese, and several exotic goats. Most of the animal's didn't make it.

Command the called in extra tankers to the scene for water supply. There was also 35 bales of hay that were in the barn which were torn apart and through soaked. The fire was struck out at 0615 hrs. Rigs on scene were; Caledonia; Engine 221, Quint 253 Tankers 261,262, Rescues 232,233, Cars 241,242. Mt.Pleasant Engine, 123 Car 141, and Raymond Tanker 1. Racine Fire Bells were also called out for rehab. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

LOS ANGELES, CA:
STRUCTURE FIRE:

On Saturday, February 02, 2002, at 0654 hours, nine companies of Los Angels Firefighters, two Battalion Command Teams, and two LAFD Rescue Ambulances, under the direction of Battalion Commander Robert Willcox, responded to a Greater Alarm Structure Fire at 8414 North Columbus Avenue in the Van Nuys area. First units on the scene reported a one story detached carport, with five or more vehicles well involved with fire exposing a two and three story apartment building. Firefighter using handlines aggressively attack the fire confining the fire to six cars (eleven others minor damage) and minor damage to the exterior of the three-story apartment building. The fire was extinguished in twenty-two minutes and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is listed as under investigation. Fire damage is estimated at $$55,000. ($15,000 structure and $40,000 contents)
