1929: Box#841, Saint Paul & 29th Sts (Charles Village - North Of Downtown), sounded shortly after dusk & as E-18 was on location awaiting instructions, E-31 crashed into the rig - Firefighter Charles Davis was standing on the backstep & was severely injured - The Fire Board found Lieutenant Frank P. McGarvey & Assistant Engineman Harry R. Care, E-31, guilty of failing to have the apparatus under control, & were ordered on duty for 30 continuous days. (TUH)

Crook Company - The stairway was burning @ the 2nd floor level with flames extending upwards & a 2nd alarm was sounded @ 1832hrs - A 35' ground ladder against the back wall suddenly broke in half & Firefighters Herman Reedy & Albert Steckfus, E-15, & Timothy Lyons, E-32, fell to the ground striking Firefighter John Clark, E-15 - The falling firefighters received broken limbs & lacerations - The fire was confined to the 3rd floor level by the quick & efficient work of firefighters & extinguished - The alarm was sounded by Box#414 Association member William A. Murray, who observed the unusual smoke condition as he passed by & promptly turned in the alarm, which contributed to the quick control of the fire which had the potential for a large blaze, according to Chief Engineer Michael H. Lotz. (TUH)
