· CAMDEN (CAMDEN Co.), NJ: 2nd Alarm struck on arrival at 111 N 26th St. Chief arriving reports heavy fire from a 2.5-story vacant structure. [EAN]. 3:15p.m.

· MECKLENBURG Co., NC: Robinson FD *2nd Alarm Equiv.* 10334 Harrisburg Rd. (E of Charlotte). Well-involved 1-story brick house. Fire under control. (1) Firefighter fell thru floor into basement with fire. Rescued & Airlifted to UNC's Burn Center in Ch Hill in critical condition. Fatal House Fire
Racine, WI

At around 2315 hrs, Racine Fire was dispatched to the 3200 blk of Republic Ave. Several 911 call's were made from neighbor's. First engine on scene reported a working fire. Command called in a Rit team from Truck 1. Another engine was called in. Report's also came in that there was a male inside the house. He perished in the fire along with his cat. It was a 2 family home, wood structure. Investigator's ruled the fire as faulty space heater. The whole north side was totally engulfed.

Rig's on scene were; Engine's 1,6,9, Quint 7 & 8, Rescue 7, car's 41, 43, U-4, and rehab 64. Rehab was called to the scene due to cold weather condition's. This is the 2nd fatal fire in Racine since the first of the year.

LEWISVILLE, TX: 1 Alarm Structure Fire. Box 120. 1138 Woodmere Drive. 1-Story SFD fire in the kitchen. 1st Engine led out, building ventilated, 1 civilian transported to the hospital. Battalion 163, Engines 161, 164, 166, Truck 161, Medic 161, Chiefs 161, 163. 1638 hours.

***BALTIMORE, MARYLAND FIRE HISTORY***

for March 4th:

1959: 6 Alarms - Box#876 - 2204 N Fulton Ave - Northwest Of Downtown - Fire involved several stores. (CHM1)

1975: 10 Alarms - 6-6-633 & 4-4-6125 - 2349hrs - 1437-1447 Key Hwy - Locust Point (South Baltimore) - (2) police officers cruising on the top driveway in Federal Hill Park spotted a fire to the southeast - Speeding around curving Key Hwy they sounded Box#633 @ 2349hrs - Captain Irvin A. Goodrich, T-19, radioed that a working fire was in progress @ 2351hrs & Captain John M. Kelly, E-12, radioed for the 2nd alarm @ 2352hrs - Acting BC-5, Alfred M. Feathers, Captain T-2, ordered a 3rd alarm @ 2355hrs - DC Herbert W. Catterton ordered the 4th alarm @ 2358hrs, the 6th alarm @ 0002hrs, & special called Fireboat #2 @ 0003hrs - The 1st responding companies hastily moved its rigs from in front of the blazing 2 story woodframe Hercules Ship Maintenance Company, 1437 Key Hwy, as the flames plumed high in the cold night, lighting up the Inner Harbor area - Fireboat #1, the Mayor Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr., played its big bow pipe onto the fire from the Patapsco River water front, while Fireboat #2, the Mayor J. Harold Grady, turned its pipes on (3) 500,000 gallon capacity oil tanks which, although empty, contained highly explosive fumes - (6) fuel oil tank trucks were moved out of the tank farm yard next to the burning warehouse - DC Catterton ordered the 2nd alarm (8th alarm) from adjacent Box#6125 @ 0018hrs when gusty winds spread the furious flames across a narrow areaway, entering the windows of a 3 story office & warehouse of the Atlantic Refining Company, 1441-1447 Key Hwy - Chief Of Department Thomas J. Burke ordered the 4th alarm (10th alarm) sounded @ 0026hrs - Although the cold 20 degree weather brought out a crowd of spectators, attracted by the cherry red sky & the sirens of 60 rigs, they appreciated the terrific heat generated by the blaze, & were kept back a safe distance by police because of the danger of exploding oil tanks - The hot fire raged out of control for more than (2) hours & after it darkened down, burned until after dawn - A nostalgic view was added to the scene when old Hose Co#5's rig, a 1957 Ward LaFrance being used by E-24, played good streams of water from (2) of its (3) monitor pipes on the blaze - The Snorkle (Water Tower #1) divided its efforts between both burning structures - (3) firefighters were injured, (1) seriously, @ the fire - Firefighter John T. McCleary, Aide to DC-7, suffered a massive heart attack & was kept @ Mercy Hospital - Lieutenant William N. Freund, E-2, & Firefighter Joseph McMains, E-6, were treated for badly lacerated hands & released - Firefighter McCleary recovered nicely, but never returned to duty, & was placed on the Pension Roll. (CHM1*TUH)

2001: 2 Alarms - Box#8-2 - 1946hrs - 1353 N Carey St - Sandtown/Winchester (Northwest Of Downtown) - Fire involved a 3 story brick rowhouse - "B" Shift. (TGA)
