GO WINGS GO

Anyone but Detroit!!!!!

Red Wings exemplify everything that is bad in pro sports. Rich owners raiding small market teams to buy a championship. Steve Yserman is the one example of class in a classless franchise.

Hasek....no class
Chelios....I think even his mother hates him!
All Detroit Russians are better divers than Greg Louganis!

I would rather my sister be a hooker than my brother be a lawyer or a wings fan!

Oh yeah, I just remembered.... Shanahans not too bad. Ok 2 players with class, but that's it.

Man-o-fire,

YOU MUST BE AN AV'S FAN.

Man-o-fire
05-24-2002, 02:34 PM
Nope, truth be known, I am an Oilers fan, and they're golfing. Avs are almost as bad as Detroit in terms of raiding free-agents! The only good thing about this years NHL post season is that the other team guilty of raping the small market franchises, the Rangers, crashed and burned. I have loved the Wings when they were a proud and noble team, the days of Howe, Sawchuk, Delvechio etc. Just don't like them now. More for political reasons than for the game itself.

Just a question....the league warned fans in Ottawa and Toronto that the home team would be penalized if fans contiued to throw items onto the ice, how come no warning in Detroit?

Man-o-fire,

In all honesty is this not what professional sports is all about these days???? Plundering everyting in the way in order to gain championship rings and trophys. To pay an obscene amount of money to get the best possible players and then to jack up ticket prices so only the rich can actually watch the team live and in person.

Lets put the rubish away for now and just enjoy the pure sport of it for what it really is......entertainment.

How can you penalize a team whose fans go to the trouble of buying slimy sea creatures to throw on the ice??

I love the tradition of it, I don't know if I could do it, tho!

Fire Trucks are RED ..... The Wings are RED ... DAMN STRAIGHT REDWINGS!

Yzerman would make a great Captain in the fire service. By far the best all around player in the game, and a heart as big as the city itself.

To change the context of a bumper sticker from NC that was aimed towards UNC:

"Teach a child the ABC's...Anybody But Carolina"

bobsnyder

Anybody but Carolina is right!! The team that introduced cheerleaders to hockey (what is this...basketball??) has to go...and go now!!

I've stayed away from hockey for weeks out of disgust. I'm so disgusted I can't stand it. Another early exit for the Flyers, and what happens?? Fire the coach, Bill Barber. Fire one of the all-around best guys that the organization has ever had. Bobby "big head" Clarke has had seven coaches. Bobby "super ego" Clarke has had years to make this work. Bobby "God's gift to Philly hockey" Clarke needs to stand up, take some responsibility and fire his own ineffective, egomaniacal, stupid ***** so we can get ourselves a real GM and a shot at going somewhere other than golfing. I don't think he wants it. I don't think that ol' Bobby C's massive ego could stand seeing anyone else in orange and black hoist a Stanley Cup over his head during his lifetime.

And then there's "Captain" Kieth "Judas Iscariot" Premeau (a former Carolina Hurricane, coincidentally), out in the press cry-babying about how they were told to "work harder" when things weren't going well and just about peeing himself with joy over the prospect of Barber's firing. That had all the class of 6 tons of horse manure. Boo Hoo Hoo, Keithey...a picture of your ugly mug will never be hung on a wall in Toronto where Billy Barber's is...just remember that.

Sorry that this is off the subject for today, guys. I just needed to let that fly. I doubt I'll even bother with tickets next year...

Haven't really followed the AHL this year...go Wolfpack!

Although it is the lesser of evils, I am pulling for Toronto. Even though the Leafs have elevated whining to an art form, the other 3 teams are worse. Detroit and Colorado for being scum-bag preditors and Carolina for simply being boring, trap playing, sloths.

My top ten reasons for the Red Wing to lose.

10. Preditory owners

9. Diving Russians

8. Zeigler wants them to win

7. Hockeytown shmockey town

6. Really are the Windsor Red Wings

5. 42 years between cups

4. Hasek can't win big one at NHL level

3. No one likes octopi

2. Little Caesars makes lousy pizza

1. Chris Chelios is even more obnoxious than the octopus

Man-o-fire,

You my friend are an angry, angry man.

Man-o-fire
05-29-2002, 09:12 PM
Not angry MOTOWN just sad. I watch in dismay as John Zeigler turns a once great game into nothing more than a crass business. (damn lawyers) Won't vent on the Detroit ownership anymore, at least for a while. But sad to see the refs swallow their whistles and allow lesser talented teams like Carolina to clutch, grab and interfere because they can't keep up. I have to admit that the Red Wings at least play hockey. I do also love the Detroit fans (even though the owners su....oops, said I wouldn't vent. I would tell you that my hero growing up was Roger Crozier but that would tell you how old I am.

On another topic, as a fellow musician, I have this perverse dream of re-recording the Who's, "Mama's got a squeeze box" substituting bagpipes for the accordian and calling it "Mama's got a squeeze bag". Let me know, maybe we could team up and make it a hit.

Man-o-fire,

I can agree with you brother on several points. I love the fans and the spirit of the fans they remind me of soccer fans and if you know me you will know that there are 2 sports I LOVE 1. rugby 2. soccer. Owners will be owners and that will not change.

On a musical note, I dont really even need a good reason to unleash the WAR PIPES and in my opinion everthing sounds a little better with the drones wailing. I once had an idea to have someone follow me around playing the PIPES, kinda like theme music but I quickly realized they couldnt fit on the back of my motorcycle so the idea got scratched. Perhaps a side car?????

GO WINGS!!!

Out here in the barren wastelands now, but born & raised outside Detroit. I even liked them when they sucked! (I think that was the whole 70's and 80's)

Happy to see them head home to win the series with Colorado - lots of Av fans around here, but I'm converting them!

Go Wings, & hoist the cup again!

Stay safe

The CUP goes to one of the NHL originals...and if history is any indication....I'll only have to wait another 40 something years for the cup to come to Madison Square Garden!

Hats off to MoTown!!

Go easy.

The CUP goes to one of the NHL originals...and if history is any indication....I'll only have to wait another 40 something years for the cup to come to Madison Square Garden!

A couple of things are going to happen.

1. We will all get over our original repulsion at an Islander standing behind the bench at the Garden and realize that Trottier is a pure and simple winner. (Potvin STILL sucks).

2. Fluery will be playing in Saskatoon somewhere.

3. Sather will go for somebdoy BIG (Sakic?)

4. The Mark Messier Magical Mystery and Farewll Tour will inspire the Rangers to win all those uninspired one goal games they lost last year.

5. Nedved will be history

6. Richter will be back

7. Build the team around Dvorak, Grosek, Lindros and McCarthy

8. Cup in three years.

manofire2
06-14-2002, 06:37 PM
Could happen sooner than that George, perhaps a large pizza company with deep pockets will buy the rangers and subsequently the cup. It won't happen with Trottier though, he will be fired by the all-star break and replaced by the guy who should have got the job this time around, Ted Nolan.

Congatulations to Stevie Y. and Brendan Shanahan, I believe only the 2nd and 3rd players to win Olympic Gold and the Stanley Cup in the same year. Morrow for the Islanders did it in 1980.
