View Full Version : DC will be Free...Now time for step 1
Ronnie Few has resigned according to the frontpage of Firehouse.com This after a series of missteps and mistakes that would have caused termination for 95% of the nations chief officers. It will be very interesting to see how a search is conducted. That is step 1. My best to the brothers in the district.

So now that Scooby is leaving, the question becomes "Who is going to be the interim/long-term Fire Chief?"
There are several good candidates inside the ranks of DCFD.
Time will tell...

Our country has some flagship cities--NY, LA, Chicago, DC, etc--and we need flagship fire chiefs in those cities. Good luck, DCFD.

Congrats to the brothers in DC. Maybe they can now get a chief
who will fight for them get them the equipment and other things
that are sorely needed to keep the dept. running efficiently.
Things can only go up from here.

MANY COULD DO BETTER; "FEW" COULD DO WORSE!
Man, I crack myself up. Whew! Jeez; I'm dying here. God, my side is hurting. Oh, I can't see through the tears. Ah, that's better.
Jay; it's not July, old friend. What's a goin' on?
Your crusty buddy wants to know.

It is a great first step...now if the District comes up with some money to replace the equipment and apparatus, they will on the right tract. With all the visitors, foreign and domestic, there is no excuse for DCFD not being a flagship for the American fire service and what it means to the people.
I realize that supporting your local fire service doesn't create a bunch of social programs that guarantee a voter base of those dependent on them programs. But sooner or later, public servents need to protect the citizens in their charge, and JUST as important, protect the members of the DCFD that are on the front line. It is painfully obvious that antiquated equipment and a diversity quota program are not doing it.
I agree with kobersteen; there is definatly some talent within the DCFD that needs be considered for the job. I could only shudder to imagine the results if the members of the department where not as dedicated to the people and the job...
PS...I think there is a couch and a doctor waiting for you!:D

I hope D.C. Fire has a brighter future now. I wish I could say the same about Detroit Fire but it would be for naught.
