Looking to start gathering information on progressing from a Surface Water and Ice Rescue team into a all encompassing Dive Team. I have gathered some information from the NFPA codes and such and I am looking to expand on my knowledge. Looking more specifically into equipment inventories, training levels and funding issues/capital outlay. Our department covers 4 large fresh water bodies of water and has numerous smaller ponds and one river with small dams and locks along its path with a low to moderate current. We do have ice cover about 3 to 4 months a year on all bodies of water. Any info or links to sites would be of great help.

You should call Trevor Aronson at Dive Rescue International. His number is 800-248-DIVE or he can be reached via e-mail at:
taronson@diverescueintl.com.

Trevor is the Dive Rescue International program coordinator and is also an officer with the Larimer County Dive Team in Fort Collins, CO. He can assist with recommendations regarding training and equipment since those are two services provided by D.R.I.

You can visit Dive Rescue International online at:
http://www.diverescueintl.com

Best of luck!

(Also, I have attached a Dive Team SOG file that is NFPA compliant)

You should also try contacting Butch Hendricks at Lifeguard Systems.

Our department has invited Butch and Andrea (I've forgotten how to spell her last name) to train our team on two occasions. The local Air National Guard Rescue Squadron has invited Butch and Andrea to train them later this summer.

Good Luck

Check out www.subaquasystems.com As opposed to just teaching it. They are members of dive teams and have over 20 years experience training divers.
