I was brainstorming the other day about stuff, yes I have what you could call too much time on my hands as I am in between semesters, but I was wondering if anyone has or has seen a line launcher for high lines or traverses that was homemade. Something more technical than tying some cordelette to an arrow and shooting it.
Yeah, yeah it's prolly not safe to make your own, blah, blah, blah

Maybe you could use a couple of cans and a potato and some lighter fluid...on second thought, nah...

Truck, don't think that didn't cross my mind!!!!:)
Having never actually built one, got plans for a big one but never actually got to it, I would think I'd have trouble keeping the potato intact to carry the line. May have to try that...
This isn't something I'm pondering so I can rush out and make one for our rescue rig, it's more like misdirected curiosity....

I have thought about fitting a pvc "rocket" over the end of my potato gun and trying to launch a line with it. Instead of putting a potato into it put the pvc over the barrel. Haven't had the time (or guts) to try it though!! If you try it, let me know how it works.

This may prompt me to break out my potato gun again! :D Seems to be a Midwest thing so far. Any of you guys from the coasts play with those things?
