Rope Rescue Diagrams

Looking for someplace to download diagrams of pulley system rigging diagrams. Also knots and anchors. Looking for possible full page diagrams to compile a tabbed binder to use as a quick flip guide. Any info or files would be greatly appreciated. Stay safe!

There are several good sources out there for diagrams/pictures/charts, but reinventing the wheel may not be the best way to go.

Check out the: TECHNICAL RESCUE FIELD OPERATIONS GUIDE (Tom Pendley). Many graphics, checklists and step-by-steps for a variety of situations. I believe this is about $20.

Also check out: TECHNICAL RESCUE RIGGERS GUIDE . Another field reference. More diagrams, charts, etc. Another book about $20.

Both of the above are spiral bound and intended for quick reference.

Use what's appropriate and be sure to credit the author/creator appropriately. Remember that these guides are NOT intended to replace hands-on training and experience. If I see someone having to look up how to rig a 3:1 I see a big flashing warning sign in my head :eek:

The China Lake mountain rescue group also has a very informative web site. It has their rope rescue manual online.

The Petzl website has many good illistrations that I think may help you. Also it breaks the system down into individual components so you can better understand the equipment being used. While I wasn't initially fond of this company, with use of their products like the ID 20 I've grown to respect and trust their gear. Petzl equipment is worth taking a look at, it is simple to use and has clear instructions on what it can and can't do. The only think you have to get used to is dealing with the kN vs lbs in the spec.
