Anyone out there using the Petrogen, Oxy-Gasoline cutting torch?
Likes, dislikes, tricks or tips for using it, I just saw it today in a class. I didn't get to play much, it seemed very hard to start when compared to acetylene.

Thanks in advance.

I tried it at FDIC West last year and it worked really well. It can cut steel up to 15 inches thick (virtually clean cut). We just ordered one for our Rescue and recieved it yesterday, we will be using it this week in a Rescue Systems 1 course under various conditions.

I played with a Petrogen system for the first time at a structural collapse class last week. I was impressed, but my favorite is still MAPP gas torches. They're considerably more stable than acetylene, and burn only a couple hundred degrees cooler.

You can have the Mapp gas.A miserable lighting, cold burning fuel.If I couldn't have Acetelyne,I'd go with either LP gas or the Petrogen but my favorite is oxy/acetelyne with a Smith burn head and a SC5 nozzle.Fast and smooth. We had mapp gas for just about a month at a company I used to work at and it took twice as much gas to do half as much work.T.C.
