Merry Christmas. Just got back from Australia and saw this untouched thread and I was amazed that no one in the SC Fire Service has found it worthy of discussion. Granted, we have the fine webpage SCONFIRE where discussion is taking place (plug for you, Grant) but I figured SOMEONE in SC would want to discuss SOMETHING topical here.

Hey- has everyone seen the new SCFA course catalog? Lots of new classes coming up. Rescue School looks like it will be interesting.

Alright- it's done. We have a thread started. Now start talking. We're all dying to hear what you have to say...

If I am ever allowed to cross the board, SC is on my places to check out (might be looking for a job, anyone hiring?)

Let me know.

Welcome back Truck6alpha

Good to see people are checking out the thread. Two from SC and one from parts unknown.

Glad to hear all is well in South Lynches. Something tells me I fought a small brush fire with you guys in Horry County about a year ago. The name sticks out for some reason.

In regard to hiring- check out www.sconfire.com for SC departments hiring. It always seems like SOMEONE is hiring here, in contrast to the Northeast and other places. Good luck. I know our list is getting ready to expire soon, and subsequently, we will be advertising for applications. The problem is, our policy is to not take apps until we are advertising.

Good to see you back safe Mick! I will be going back overseas to England in a month myself. North Charleston is hiring right now for 8 positions. Email me at sconfire@comcast.net for more information.

By the way... thanks for the plug Mick... still writing these days?!?! :D

Parts unknown?????

Com'n, I am from the good ol' Malahat. That's in them there British Columbia, Canada.... ya'll.

(sorry, working on my American Accent for when I move down yonder....)

Thanks for the info, I am moving you up the list as we speak :) I also have some realestate books coming from the area.

You guys wouldn't happen to know the names of the companies that provide Ambulance Services there, would you? I am a Firefighter, but Mrs. 26 (you should remember my bachelor party from June.... I am still hung over... ) is a ACLS Paramedic, who will also be looking for position somewhere.

Huge apologies 26- I knew you were from the Great White North. I forgot exactly WHERE when I posted. I beg forgiveness...

That being said- as you can see, North Charleston listed some and in regard to ambulance providers, I would imagine that Charleston County EMS is hiring. They're one of the biggest EMS organizations in the state and it seems like they're always hiring. Meducare (Medical University of SC, which is in Charleston) is usually on the prowl for medics as well.

We are one of very few departments in the state that are both fire and full ALS response and transport, but it would mean competing with your wife for a job when we open up for applications. Beaufort County (which handles everything here outside of our jurisdiction) hires pretty frequently too. Good luck.

Grant- have fun in England- let us know how it goes.

Yeah- I guess something would have to be occurring in SC for us to put something on here ;) . Everyone stay safe and if you have something to say- say it- we're all waiting anxiously for someone to open their mouth and at least get us started on some posts.
