I just got a letter back from one of the cities that I applied to that gives the testing date and location. They also mention if you have any experience, vet status or city residency to bring the supporting paperwork.
I'm not a vet or resident but I have 6 years of experience as a paid-on-call FF, state and national FFI/II certification, many State Fire Academy courses, First Responder, CPR And SAED certification.
Should I bring all these certificates? Also should I have my Chief write a letter stating that I've been employed for 6 years?
TIA

Iwould also suggest that you use the time between now and when you go to test to review your F/F 11 academic skills, when we test i my dept, the candidates have to take the basic entrance exam, and if they are applying for F/F 1 or 11 and they successfully pas the basic test, they then sit a F/F 1 or two test, so far the majority of those who test fail to get a pass on this aspect, a sad reflection of so called f/f 1 and 11s. Also the state of NM requires a 70% pass on F/F 1. We in the Los Alamos require a 80% pass, we have found that by doing this, when we take the cadets to the state fire academy to test, they all pass with flying colors

Well, it seems the only "experience they were looking for was an Associates or Bachelor in Fire Science.
They gave extra credit for:

City residents (2years minimum)
Vets
Fire science degree
