My Department is currently looking to replace our aging Tower Ladder. We have decided on a mid-ship tower ladder and we have looked at the new Ferrara 100' mid-ship and were impressed with the vehicle. Ferrara is new to our area and I would like to hear opinions on there manufacturing quality? there service reliability and any comments anyone who uses there apparatus has about the company and the quality of their work ... Thanks John

Get in contact with San Antonio, Tx. They are buying them, I believe on Spartan chassis. Not sure on aerials, think they are using E-One.
SAFD has a collection of different brands, not sure if they have 2-3 alike.
Also New Braunfels, TX, on Ferrara chassis.
Heard they are good trucks.

Doesn't Ferrara use Smeal ladders now?

Funny how there is a corn field and tractors in the picture. Is that the lineage of the rig? LOL, couldn't pass it up ff43065.

In response to OneL1L's post, yes, Ferrara is using Smeal for their aerial devices. They were using RK Industries, but left them and entered into an agreement with Smeal. So if you truly like a Smeal aerial device, but don't like their body design, then you can look at the Ferrara.

Stay safe and remember, if it's not in the specification, you're not getting it!!

C'Mon... E-One does not even know what a midmount is. They can't even get one down to 10' overall height. How about the hortizontal reach? 80'? I guess that is not bad for a truck they call a 95.

How about all them down jacks. I think 6. Better hope there are no manholes on the street. Does that also mean you must have 6 auxiliary pads?

Sutphen 110': My gosh. The four (4) mid ship outriggers are HUGE. And what about the vertical stabilizers they use on their other rigs. Are they on the 110' also? Come on ff43065, lets hear about the Sutphen and its "Foot print" on the fire ground. You need a parking lot to set it up. LOL.

90-100ft aerial platforms(90ft
For tight spots, only one stabilizing jack on each side is required. Total jack spread is 18 feet.

70ft aerials and platforms
Sutphen designed under slung stabilizers with central controls lead to the fasted set-up times in the industry (20 seconds). 16 ft. maximum spread allows set-up in tight spaces.

104ft aerial ladder
Single jack system with rear supports requires less maneuvering yielding the fastest set-up time in the industry. 18 ft. maximum spread allows set-up in tight spaces.

My department has a sutphen 35' bucket and we love it. I have compared it to the straight stick and a snorkel. I loved the bucket mid mount compared to all others.

Keep an eye out for Sutphens new beast. A 100' platform WITH a climbing ladder under 10 feet in heighth, and less than 232" WB.

I'll throw in my opinion on that question if I may. In vertical reach, it is the E-One F174HDT model on a Hurricane chassis. The vertical reach on this model is 174'. Now thats a hell of a reach. Just some thoughts.
