Good day all,

I figured someone out there would know where I could order some knew blades for our Lukas Combi-tool. We got our Lukas tools a number of years ago, but the dealer we got them from has gone out of business, and from what I can tell the Lukas brand was purchased by Hurst. Anyway, we have used up our last spare blade and we are going to need to order some new ones. Last year, when we ordered, we had to go through another dealer, who had to have the parts shipped from Germany, which took forever. I figured there must still be a dealer on this continent that carries them, and/or, knows of a closer place to get them from.

As for the tools themselves, they work great. The combi-tool is light, protable, and thus far, has been more than able to cut and spread everything we have thrown at it.

If anyone has an idea, information, or a contact, I would be gratefull if you passed it on.

Go to www.hurstjaws.com You can find 4 Canadian dealers there. Our brand new XTractor II Hurst cutter came with Lukas blades.

In response to the the request for a "Lukas" dealer, the information was correct regarding the website. Go to www.hurstjaws.com and the information will be there.

As far as the tool information goes, if you combi-tool is a Lukas version of the Centaur SC14, ask for blade/tip PN V84150/6240-01 and if you are using the Lukas version of the Centaur SC10 your PN is V84150/6250-02.

Hurst did not "buy" Lukas. Both Hurst and Lukas are owned by IDEX. There was a move at the corporate level to make changes. Lukas is still in business and available to the market outside of the US. In the US, Centaur is tool being offered. It is, for all basic purposes, the same tool with different colors, stickers and marketing. The vast majority of Lukas dealers lost their "dealership" lat year when this change took place, and almost every Hurst dealer had another line available to offer the customer.

I can only say state that the parts situation is better than it was a year ago, but unless the req'd parts are stocked by the dealer or "on the shelf" at Hurst, parts do take some time to get from Germany. This is not entirely the vault of Hurst/Centaur or IDEX, but shiiping then US Customs and the whole security issue come in. As a dealer, we face this issue more now than ever. Believe me, it does get frustrating.

Just one other point on the blades, printed on the "parts list" at the bottom... "Any and all modifications or repairs should be perfromed by factory trained personnel." Keep this in mind while working on your equipment. We will, in the extremely rare instance, ship parts to the "end user", it just isn't worth the liability issue to have repairs done "in house".

Hope this information helps.

We have not had to do any repairs to the units yet, that is, beyond putting on new blades. We have manual for the tools that shows torque specks, etc, specifically for changing blades.

However, in the near future, the fittings on the hydrolic lines are getting very very dirty (from use). We clean them the best we can, but when we took the lines to a hydrolic repair shop, but they said the fittings are one peice and can not be taken apart to be cleaned, but rather, should be replaced as a whole.

Anyway, I will get the model numbers, etc, and post them here. If we can get the same blade that will work on the tool, I really don't care where it came from, just as long as it works.
