This Forum has been really quiet since the opening of the Grant application. Obviously everyone is hard at work on the app. Thought I would take a break from it and ask a question. Heard talk that since a lot of depts got PPE last year that vehicles would be a priority for them this year. Anyone else following that line of thought ?

Good luck to all again !!!

At a FEMA grant seminar, we were told if your newest vehicle was less than 30 years, your chances would be very slim.

Good Luck, Stay Safe

well at the workshop it sounded like only 25% would be used for vehicle acquisition program. and that bush demanded that at least 5% be used for fire prevention.

Makes for a maximum of $187,500,000 to be used for vehicles. Sounds like a lot, but as has been said many times before, unless you don't have one of what you need, and you run a very high call volume, it's highly unlikely that vehicle grants will get approved. Make shure you search hard and look at your overall operation to see what needs improvement. If you have PPE, SCBA, plenty of tools, and you want nothing to do with Hazmat, then make the vehicle attempt. But if you're going to do that, make sure it's got some innovative stuff on it. Such as CAFS, some kind of aerial master stream (50' range), etc, etc. Pumpers are hard to come by because they a take water in and push water out. And if you don't run 12 calls a day, you've got your work cut out for you on that application. Good luck to everyone.
