Ok, seeing how NJ has been out of service for a while, I tried thinking of a subject title that he would use. Don't think I did a good job though.
Smiley Face Could Come To License Plates
Icon's Creator's Son Pushing Idea
POSTED: 3:47 p.m. EDT April 15, 2003
BOSTON -- The famous, yellow smiley face could be coming to Massachusetts license plates.
A hearing will be held in Boston Tuesday on legislation to create a smiley face plate.
The late Harvey Ball designed the yellow graphic 40 years ago. His son, Charles Ball, is leading the effort to put the happy icon on cars.
He says he figures road rage would be reduced with enough smiley faces on the highways.
Proceeds from the specialty plates would fund the World Smile Foundation. The charity distributes grants to schools and libraries across the state.

Not creative enough to think of a title.
But you see the shirts with the smily face and the one with the bullet hole in the forehead.
you get sick of the face.
How about a smiling paperbag. Think about it ADZE could be famous.

Hey Adze, I thought it was Forrest Gump that came up with the smiley face! Didn't you see that documentary about him? :)

I thought so too. I guess we better write to the Massachusetts legislature and request that they change the bill to reflect the proper origins of the smiley face.

MikeF25 said all
you get sick of the face.
There were neumerous (sp??) (a lot) of reports of Barney being beaten up because people got sick of seeing & hearing him.
I commute 1.5 hrs. twice a day (on the GSP), and I don't think that the guy with smilely face cutting me off or driving too slow in the fast lane, would be more liked, in fact I am more inclined to think he be a smart *****.
Only My oppinion.

OOPS, my smiley face just went from yellow to red. I guess I just jumped at the chance for some NJ bashing and got it in the wrong context. Ignore the Love Canal refrence and insert this one. "New Jersey...Beaches Are Now 72% Bio-waste Free!"

I'm only sentenced to NJ 40 hours a week, but I think the Real NJ's headline would say: "Massachusetts Smilin' Now"
I DO have 2 "State" bashes, though:
New Jersey: Where the women have hair bigger than _____________
New Jersey: NO LEFT TURNS ALLOWED, RIGHT IS MIGHT!

I slept at a NJ rest stop once on my way home from NC...woke up with a phlemmy, harsh cough that lasted over a year. Doctor said he didn't think New Jersey had anything to do with it, but I think he was full of it...my clean New England lungs couldn't take that air I guess ;)

I know I am violating a state secret.
You see, we (citizens of NJ) decided to keep the undesireables out of NJ making the route through most unplesant. We send you through the most industrial sections, and then we send you through farm land and to top it off we toll the s*** out of ya. We don't allow outsiders to see the splender & glory. The mountains, rivers, ect.
It's only for those who deserve it.:D

Hey....as the Southerners would attest to: we leave the jughandles and circles to them!!! Born & raised in North Jersey!!!
Did my 18-22 year sentence, went out on 'work release' (college) and 'violated my sentence' and stayed in PA (found a good job & got married). Still come North every month to bring the 2 year old to my parents!
I used to know I was almost home by the smell permeating my car along the NJTPK (and GSP sometimes)!!
SANDSTROMJM-- Oh man, we're in trouble now....the secrets out!! :)

Wow! There aren't too many parts of PA where you can go North and get to NJ, most parts have to go East. You live in one of those special parts.
And remember, those jughandles were designed to give Police Departments extra income...by ticketing all those out of state people that make left turns.:D

Bones....you got me on the compass skills....Gotta head Northeast!!!
Thanks!
SANDSTROMJM- LMAO....I remember sitting in line for the GWB in the morning and thank the almighty that I don't have to do that anymore!!

04-18-2003, 07:53 PM
Yeah, after I woke up with that dang cough, I had to sit in traffic at the GWB. That's New York's way to try to weed out the undesirables. LOL If you don't have the patience, you can't get into NY.
SANDSTROMJM
04-18-2003, 08:42 PM
Even if you couldn't handle the sit, unless you know the back roads of Ft. Lee, your better off going through NYC and making CT usefull as a turn-around!!:D :D It'll take the same amout of time!!!

Still carring out my life sentance (40 Years Served)I must admit
that all of our state plans have worked out just fine.
We not only trap you on our highway but, as mentions before
we tax (tolls) the crap out of you just so you can say
you have had the pleasure of saying that you came threw
New Jesey. You really need to spend some time at our great
shore areas, We get $5 to $10 just so you can look at the ocean.
Not that you can swim or anything. No need for sun screen here,
well will have one of those big haired gals block the sun for you
at now extra charge. Fishing is another great
seasonal thing that we get suckers to come to our shoreline
for, Just leave your arm and leg at the toll both.
The air is wonderful in late spring and summer time, roll down
those window around Newark and Elizabeth. Theres nothing like
anywhere else.
And lets not forget our plans for NYC. We have most of the entrance
blocked with tolls. (GWB, LINCOLN TUNNEL, HOLLAND TUNNEL, VARRANZONO
BRIDGE, AND THE CHIMPANZE BRIDGE (TAPPANZEE). Ah yes we bet you coming
and going.
By the way do you know what exit you at?
Have you been to the mall this week?
So I think we shold put a smilie face on the back of every car that
come threw a toll both (it should read "smile you've just been ****** in NEW JERSEY).
Joe:cool:

Judging by the amount of "seasonal" traffic increasing every year, I would say we have not made it horrible enough for them, they keep coming, day after day, week after week, etc.

We need to increase the tolls for all out of staters and start closing all rest stops for "repair and renovations"
that will keep the out-of-staters moving on through.

It might also increase the numbers of cars pulled over to the shoulder of the turnpike letting thier kids out to use our fine 'botanical' facilities!! :)
BTW...you might notice that I finally uploaded my 'true colors' into my avatar!!!!
