STORRS -- University of Connecticut administrators and police say they are generally pleased with the outcome of last weekend's Spring Weekend.
There were no major disturbances, no rioting and no car-flipping, they said.
"Besides a small number of ruffians, the overall student body deserves an A-plus for behavior during Spring Weekend 2003," state police Col. Timothy Barry said.
The final statistics:
69 revelers were taken by ambulance to the hospital.
86 were arrested.
Three were charged with robbery.
One was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault.
12,000 attended the X-lot party, 2,000 more than last year.
$106,000 in overtime will be paid to state troopers for working those nights.
We're just outside the "ambulance shed" for UConn. A couple times our neighboring town of Hampton had it's ambulance moved up to cover the Mansfield fire house -- which pretty much meant we were covering Hampton at that point.
Kinda funny listening to the scanner. At one point the three dispatch centers (TN, WW, and UConn's own UC) lost a Paramedic for thirty minutes...TN finally announced they found him as he had just signed on transporting with one of the mutual aid ambulances!
