FYI.. i was on www.longhillfd.com to see if it got updated.

I guess they went to KME recently and got pictures of the new 204 in progress. It was hard to notice the picture were on the site though. They may have been there for a couple weeks now but I just noticed. To get to the pictures, read the caption under the TOWER204 sign...

OK, I gotta ask the question. What's with the 1970's diamond shaped upholstery??? LOL!!!

Looks good, I heard it may be ready for the NE Chiefs show.

Wouldn't that be something....Long Hill's rig would be ready and Warehouse Point's may still be at Pierce's factory in Wisconsin. Pierce paid for it to be flat-bedded back to Wisconsin.

My dept has a couple old KMEs (1970's and 1980s) that are used for spares and they too have the diamond upholstry..

maybe its just a KME signature thing.. itll give it a retro look

Generator wasn't as big as they spec'ed out.

Hose bed (for 5" supply) wasn't as big as they spec'ed out.

The specs said that that apparatus had to do a certain degree slope 360 degrees around, it can't.

In certain positions, the outriggers on the opposite side of the apparatus lift off the ground.

I'm sure there are probably other things too.

They discovered the generator issue during final inspection, which delayed delivery. Pierce gave them (what I consider) a song and dance about how they couldn't have a bigger generator. The truck finally got delivered in Jan/Feb. When it shipped back out to Wisconsin, it still wasn't in service due to tool mounting and training (the big reason).

Rumor is that Pierce offered to buy the truck back from them and that they had a committee considering it. From what I hear, they are afraid that if Pierce gives them the money back (around $900,000 before interest) then the town might take the money and not give it back to the FD. Another reason why they don't want Pierce to buy it back is because they already had to wait over a year to get this rig, if they order a new one it will be another year.

Also from what I hear, there are numerous internal problems in the FD that are a result of that truck.

Keep in mind, I'm not in that FD so I do not have the total inside scoop.
