Ok I have a little problem, I have been put in charge of revamping our truck response guidelines.

Here's a little background: Combo dept. with 2 stations staffed 24/7.

Main Station:1 Engine(E74), 1 Pumper/Tanker(E72), 1 Ladder(L71), 2 Ambulances(S72,S71), 1 Grass Truck/Investigations(E-73), 1 Tanker/Pumper(E-75), And Various HazMat.

Station 2: 1 Pumper/Tanker(E71), Ambulance (S73)

Staffing: St.1: 3 Engine, 2 Pumper/Tanker, 2 Ladder/Ambulance
St 2: 3 Engine/Ambulance.

Now volunteers and PT off duty fill in for other trucks. We only have about 1/4 of our area w/hydrants. We surrond a city on all sides, and the districts are split.

Need repsonse ideas for:
St1 Residential St1 Residential
"" Commercial "" Commercial
"" Grass "" Grass

Jeff,

A couple questions:

Do the volunteers and off duty part-timers respond directly to the scene or strictly to the stations?

For the station with 3 people for the engine and EMS unit, does the squad go out with 3 or does one stay behind to drive the engine if another call comes in?

The volunteers/Off-Duty that are close to the station respond to get the second tanker or any special call trucks. All Part-timers then report to their respective companies (Engine/Ladder.

As for our 3 man Company...just like you said 2 in the squad and 1 stays at the station.
