Highest Paid Department?

What is the highest paid department in the United States? I could have sworn it was Miami-Dade but the research I have done hasen't supported my thoughts. Does anyone know what the salary is for just a Fire Fighter in the higest paid department.

It's not just the highest paid but the best overal package including medical and retirement. Some departments have a higher pay but the employees have to pay some of there benefits and contribute to their retirement.

If you just look at the numbers you will be led astray. The major factor when discerning which dept pays the best is the cost of living. If you make 60,000 in one dept, but are killed by taxes, and other services such as gas and groceries then it is just not worth it. However if you make 30,000 in another dept somewhere else in the country but the cost of living is say a quarter of the other town you will be bringing in more cash. Its definately a balancing act and I dont think any study shows what you really want to find.
