I am a 22 y/o male wondering as to which way my college education should go
Should I go for EMT-P or should I go for an AOS in FIRE SCIENCE
I already have my certs under FF1 and my burn time in so I am SCBA cert.
I am currently taking the EMT-B course so really Im wondering what would really help me the most as a canadite for a fire fighter Position

Achieving EMT-P isn't an overnight process, as I know you must be aware. You should have mastery of your Basic skills as experienced through enough calls to make you comfortable. You have a much greater chance of enrolling in a fire science program sooner than taking paramedic. There's also nothing saying you have to do a degree paramedic program if you get the degree in FS, since the two combined won't give you anything more. Is FF/EMT-P attractive to employers? Absolutely. It's not everything, though, and it's not a sure way into a job since you still have to demonstrate common sense & the ability to get along with people (ie: oral boards & chief interviews). If you are wanting to be a paramedic, do what it's going to take to achieve that eventually. In the meantime, there's no reason not to pursue more fire training to gain you valuable experience with that. Be sure to spend time as a volunteer or paid EMT in your quest for medic. Keep us posted with your decisions! Good luck
