Which process is harder FDNY or NYPD?

Those in the FDNY recruitment process...I have a question. Next test is 2006, I am taking it. Is it harder to get on than NYPD? Currently, I am in the recruitment process for the January 05 NYPD academy class. I get the feeling that you get in as long as you follow the steps and paperwork. Is this the same case for FDNY? If you pass everything, are you guaranteed in or do you do the whole waiting list thing?

Bro, Im taking the october NYPD test and 2006 fdny test. From what I understand NYPD is quite a bit easier because their are just so many city cops that retire on an annual basis. FDNY process is pretty tough as the guys will tell you.

how do you sign up for the fdny test in '06? I live in Buffalo, NY so do you have to actually come to NYC to sign up or can you call or mail something in? thanks

keep watching the fdny official site for when they give a notice for examination, and you should be able to register online or have them mail you an application for it

It is easier to get hired by FD than PD. PD investigation is a long ardjuouce process. Besides you have to go to Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan and Brooklyn for all the different phases. I was on the militay list for PD...test 7053...I turn the job down 7 times...No way in hell was I going to be a City Cop.....TheHook has it right...BUT if that's what you want..go for it...but it's easier to get hooked up in PD.

Thanks for the heads up Vinnie, personally Im not gunning to be a city cop either its the alternative till I get on the FDNY b/c I have not yet taking the FD test.
