1953 - Boston - MA - Boston Harbor - Aircraft Carrier USS Leyte explosion kills 37 and injures 40 - Described by survivors are if a subway train was going through the ship (There was no ammunition on board the ship at the time) - The skipper of the Leyte was in only his third week of command
