Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have an exit survey or interview they use for departing members?
I'm a relativley new member in our local EMS agency, and just signed up for the recruitment and retention comittee. I've found alot of great info here so far, and I am off to the races with a multi- pronged plan of attack.
To give you some background, we responded to @3000 calls last year, and that number is expected rise substantially this year. The Agency is a combination of paid and volunteer staff, all of whom seem to get along pretty well most of the time. At least I don't see more strife than I would expect in any workplace.
But we have lost a substantial number of volunteers over the past few years, and when I ask the long time volunteers, I get mostly shrugs in response. We are getting new members in, but it seems to me that if I don't find out why people are leaving, we'll just be spinning our wheels.
So, if anyone has a survey that I can shamelessly copy and put to my own use, I would be very thankful.
Also, if you can provide any comments on the following, that would help as well:
- Was the information you gathered useful in retaining new members
- Were you able to bring people back as a result
- Did you implemement changes based on results (and how much teeth pulling did you have to do to implement those changes?)
- Was your a survey a 'one time thing', or do you do it everytime someone leaves?
Again, my thanks in advance for any help!
