Hi all...Just wanted to pass along that we have created a new Paid Position at our department I unfortunatly do not have enough experience to qualify so i thought I would pass the info along...it is as follows:

Williamson County Fire District, 3232 South Park Avenue, Herrin, Illinois 62948, 618-997-4802. VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF. The Williamson County Fire District (WCFD), located in Southern Illinois, is accepting applications for full-time Deputy Fire Chief until Monday, February 28, 2005. Salary is approximately $31,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience. The Fire District is a combination firefighting/rescue organization with a career Fire Chief and sixty-five paid on-call firefighters and a budget of $446,781.00. The WCFD is a rural fire department under the direction of a Board of Trustees. The District covers approximately 240 square miles with a population of 18,000 with an annual call volume between 250 and 300 calls. The candidate must have experience in structure/wildland firefighting, including rural water supply operations. The ideal candidate should: be a resident of Williamson County, Illinois or relocate to the County within one hundred and twenty (120) days of hiring, is at least twenty-three (23) years of age, holds an Associates Degree in Fire Science- a Bachelors degree is preferred. The Fire District will consider significant experience in lieu of education requirements. The candidate must be Certified to the Firefighter II and Instructor I level and has the ability to teach current firefighting techniques, train and motivate district personnel through effective oral and written communication, be proficient in computer use and have a thorough knowledge of NFPA Standards, incident reporting, word processing, data base, and spreadsheet computer software, requires five years of increasingly greater responsibility in Management, Administration, Training, Fire Prevention, and Fire Suppression; at a minimum, two of those years at the rank of Captain or higher; knowledge of State laws relative to Labor and Hazardous Materials Response and Ordinances.
