Pa is a joke for paid Firefighting positions, your better off going North, South, East, or West of Pa to get a job.

It cant be that much of a joke. People I have talked to say they love it in PA.

If you take the number of career slots in the state of Pa. you will see it is a joke. I miss my home and look forward to moving back one day. If you really want to do this for a career think about moving away!! I went 1300 miles south and love it. One other thing to think about... retirement....most systems in Pa. only let you retire with 50-60% of your pay. We can retire with 99.9% @ 30 years. Do some homework and you just may want to move.
stay safe

Don't get me wrong I love living in Pa it's just not the easiest place to become a career Firefighter. Most places when you test there are multiple openings, but around Pa with all the smaller Cities when they hire they might hire 1-2 positions and of course your gonna have 500-1000 people testing for that 1 or 2 positions. Now of course you have some bigger Cities but be prepared to live there 12 months prior to even applying.
Pa is a big Volunteer state and it is hard to get a paid position. The local Goverments around here love the volunteer.
