Glad to hear it. Are you within the top 16 or just the 2n + 1 formula?

n being the 16 positions.

Also, did you sign the list? Usually you will get an application package when you sign the certification list, then the interview comes later.

No I dont know of anybody else who get a card.

Thanks,
I am number 25 on the list. I did sign in as soon as I got the card.
I am going to call friday to see if they started calling anybody yet.

Fyi, Massachusetts Civil Service law mandates that appointments be made within 12 weeks (84 days) of a certification, or it becomes void. So 12 weeks fom when you got the card you must be appointed.

Hey bdattde, congratulations on receiving a postcard for employment! You must be excited! I am happy for you but I must caution you like an optimistic Red Sox fan. What I believe you received was a postcard informing you that New Bedford plans to hire 16 FF and probably has notified civil service of their intent. This is the very beginning of the process that COULD take years(depending on budget approval, politics with the IAFF, the Mayors office etc.)Usually the department will interview at least 3 candidates for each position, so your chances are good if they interview 48 people! GOOD LUCK in the interview process and be sure to give them all the information they request in a timely fashion!!!

Thanks for the info. They only sent out 33 cards. Last time they did not call everybody. They only interviewed up till grade 99 and I had got a 98. They usually hire right away after they send out the cards. They usually are pretty quick. Ant info is appreciated.
