Firefighte/Paramedic jobs in Maricopa county

I'm currently a paramedic student in Maryland and I want to work in the Phoenix area. I won't be a paramedic until mid july which is the problem. Is there anyone who knows the area and which departments would be hiring and who best to work for?

Used to live in Chandler, AZ. South of Phoenix. They have alot of annual and semi annual-type hirings. Some are only as needed. Every city has there own FD websites, most with hiring info. Just do a few searches. I think Scottsdale (A really cool city) is hiring right now and I expect they will be for a while. They basically are still forming a new department. They used to be part of some "Fire Protection District" or something like that.
I heard Mesa (very informative website)and Phoenix are hiring. Not sure about closing dates though. Mericopa County is very rapidly growing and that usually means the departments do as well. Not everywhere, but they do there. If I could move my family there, I would. Wife won't go, step-son in school, baby on the way, blah, blah blah... The regular job market there sucks, however. It is a very non-union state. If you don't have a degree, you will have a hard time finding any decent paying job. People there will work for VERY little money. Learn Spanish!

you can go to work for southwest ambulance which does all the ems for all depts except phoenix. you get to know all dpts and which ones are hiring. depts around here are hard to get on unless the ffs know you and your skills. you dont just get hired like it used to be.there are also alot of smaller towns around here to and indian reservations that have paid depts.most medics working for SWA make around 50000 to 60000 g's a year.

Like they said try Southwest ambulance or even Rural Metro Fire. You can check their web sites and that may help you out. Phoenix is rumored to be getting ready to start another large hiring spree. Also some of the outlying areas such as Tolleson, Buckeye, and I think Deer Valley are ready to start hiring. As far as Mesa, Glendale, Gilbert, and those departments they just finished their hiring process for this year but should be starting another testing process around the end of this year or so. But check out that link to the Arizona departments and just go through them. I think Apache Junction is also hiring Paramedic/Firefighters.
