E-Town Fire School

Lets try to get a little discussion going on in here. Is anybody giong to Elizabethtwon Fire School March 11-13? Theres 2 of us going from my dept. Hopefully we'll get the live burn.

Well due to my work I am not able to attend the Fire School. I would love to unless my days change. But since we are talking fire schools. A reminder the EKU Rescue school will be coming up soon in thif spring.

I'm tho only one in our dept. that has considered the Dixie school at E-town. I don't think I will make it, though, as I haven't booked yet and I'm told it is pretty full. We will have several attending the Central Ky school at Georgetown (I think that's the one that was held at EKU until this year.) I will be at Georgetown for sure. It is very close to our station.

Wow, FF41230, E-town is a long way from Louisa! Are any of your people going to be at Georgetown? How about you, MacInnis? Doc

Well it doesnt look like we're going either because I can't get the weekend off from work. Oh well have to catch the next one I suppose. Yeah it's a little ways away but we went last year. Don't know about Georgetown yet havent heard anything about it. For ranahan, at E-town they're offering
spanish for emergency responders, Methodololgy, Managing the Mayday, weahter spotter?, ISO class, Grant writing, Truss const., Special responses(meth lab, electrical), EMT Re-Cert, First Responder RE-Cert, command class, NFPA 1403, Hard to get hours, Farm rescue, FF survival and rescue, Chaplain training, live fire, Industrial fire brigade training, technical rescue awarness NFPA 1670, Basic class(boot camp), IFSAC Prep class,

The biggest problem I am seeing in KY. I use to Vol In maine is the lack of classes. YOu know they want you have all these hrs but don't offer enough training. I mean in Maine we had at least 4 schools by this time of year. But my department attends hazard evey year. But I believe we are not attending it because they never change or add new classes, same as the London School. You get like me and others in the department when you takend every class twice, although you need the hours.. something new would be great.

Thanks for the info. I did some searching and found a site (www.sfrtarea5.org) that had a college brochure in PDF format...but apparently the PDF's bad!

I might consider driving all the way over to KY for that Methodology course if it's equivalent to the old NFA methodology course -- does anyone have info on that? If it were an equivalent course, I could take it and then use that to fulfill the educational methodology requirement that's part of the NC Fire Instructor certification.

Also, does anyone have a working PDF for a brochure, info on registration, etc.? Could I register on site? Who would I need to contact? Kentucky guys -- hook me up with some info, and I'll buy you a beer if I get to attend!

straight from the brochure: "Instructional Methodology(Bridge Course), This class is to provide required re-certificaion hours for Level I and Level II instructors, and for those who obtained IFSAC Instructor Certification in another state."

Thats what it says in the brochure. I am pretty sure but don't quote me on this, but I think it is an NFA course, becuase most of the methodology and incident command classes in KY that I know of are taught from an NFA lesson plan.There is a toll free number 888-234-7201 or a local number 270-766-5238, if you want to call and see. Also if there is an email on the www.sfrtarea5.org site for the area coordinatoor, he could more than likely tell you what you need to know. i believe that Woodrow Will is the coordinatoor for that area. hope this helps.

Nope, bridge course won't do -- as you can see, it's more or less a course to bring instructors up to speed on new techniques, ideas, tactics, etc.
