Maybe I'm getting a little snow bound but I am looking out the window at our travel trailer and dreaming of camping and fishing season.
We have
2003 271/2' Sprinter travel trailer. Rear bedroom, front kitchen, 1 slideout.
1 16' Lund fishing boat with a 15hp elec. start Honda motor.
1 unimpressed teenager
1 Beagle dog
We have been assured of a permanent site at a campground this year. Last year we stayed at a seasonal site at a lake and also spent 8 days towing through the Mtns in BC. One day the Honda motor will be upgraded to a 25hp. I just can't find "one day" on my calendar:(
What have you got and where do you go?

Dont have an RV, but do have a family size (3 rooms) tent and all the gear. Last time we used it was last year. We lost power for 10 day after the huricannes. Since it was WAY too hot to be indside, we set up camp out in the yard:D

I don't, but would LOVE to! Camping would be great, but I really want one to take tailgating at Steeler and Panther games.

We love to camp. 29 foot Signature 5th wheel, double slide. We love to go to a Corp campground about 6 miles from home (might as well be 1000 miles :D ) We also take atleast one long trip per year (St. Louis, Smoky Mountains etc.). Several 100 - 200 mile trips a year.
When we camp close to home we take our jetskis and ride on the Tenn-Tom waterway.

Oh yeah..can't wait until the weather gets a little better. Went not to long ago and just enjoyed the heck out of it. The entire family is getting cabin fever.
We have a 28 ft Eagle with a superslide. More important..bikes and grill. We frequent a nearby campground that is soooo laid back. Not a care in the world.
I guess we would be considered a "campground wacker" (decor lights)
:) :) :D :D
Last summer we would stay for a week or so and just go to work from there.
Ohh I can't wait until spring!

My wife and I used to go camping when we were engaged and after we got married... now her idea of roughing it is a hotel without room service! :D

After almost 5yrs "camping" with the army, it took another 7 to come to terms with the "Out of Doors". Although I haven't been out for almost 4ys now, I am looking forward to getting some off trail time this summer.
There might be a long dist road trip in my future to coincide with a bit of camping. Just me 'n the Dog ;)

No RV yet but we do have a big tent and all the comforts of home, well maybe not home but a comfy campsite for sure. The best trips for us involve taking along our boats (Searay 220CC and 10'Achilles inflatable w/8hp Merc) or quads (450 Kodiak, 250 Timberwolf, 125 Breeze). For me there is no better way to spend real quality time with the family, trying to squeeze in all we can now before the lad evolves into an unimpressed teen.
Hey mid-westerners, any tips on good destinations in your area that offer good inland pleasure boating with interesting (and legal) off-road trails for the bikes. Please let me know, we are always looking for new memories.

The Hobo Railroad hosts a railroad car/camping trip every year that covers some of the most scenic areas in NH.
Havent done this yet because the power pack is Vermont being rebuilt. There is one spot on the Wolfeboro railroad that I want to stop and camp at. It is called Reindeer junction and is awesome! Its a rushing brook deep inside the black forest on top of a mountain. The railroad club built a set off and picnic table next to the brook............best part is.....its in the middle of no where and only accesible by rail........better yet.......accesible by your own personal train! :D

How is the power unit for that thing coming along, STM?

STM,
I'm confused. (Nothing abnormal, there)
You can actually put that thing on rails? Is there specific rails you can use? Pretty interesting, there. (Where's the big honking light for the front?):D

What happened to your snow shoes? ROFLMAO
Seriously though, you need to work on being the snowmobile driver.:D
It took my Hubby a LONG time to get me to go camping again. He coaxed me into a truck camper with the machiavelli plan of the "no toilet" option. Which took us three years later to the next step in his plan: "C'mon honey, if we get a trailer you can have a shower AND a toilet." (Which then led to a bigger truck...the story will continue, I'm sure...)

"Snow shoes"? Oh you mean those things that look like big white tennis rackets with the water soluble bindings! LOL :D
As for becoming a snowmobile driver, well ya gotta have snow for that, and around these parts, that would involve a long road trip - oh ... and to actually come into possession of a snowmobile too. :) That was one piece of kit that the Army chose NOT to qualify me to operate..............(I think for good reason too LOL)
I suspect the "trailer" concept was in pursuit of a bigger truck. :)

How is the power unit for that thing coming along, STM? Power pack is being trucked home this weekend. My neighbor( whos garage you see) is bringing it back from Vermont this weekend.
Spearsm. Yes, they can go on any rails........as long as they are standerd gauge, although a few narrow gauge versions are made. They have 16" steel train wheels, powerd by a 20 horse power engine. They only wiegh about 600 pounds......yes thats 600 pounds.
As for specific rails.
Short line railroads host us as well as old abandonned lines that we have PERMISSION!!! to use. Also knowing the owners of shortline railroads is a perk......when you want to use the railroad on your shcedule! Take a look at the links below.
