Seeking information on vendors to purchase hose rubbers (the large red rubber bands) used on 100 ft lengths of 1-1/2" of wildland hose. I remember the last time I went through this process (10-12+years ago, it was quite a painful process to find a vendor!)I did not have a lot of success getting vendors to return my calls, and the Federal Cache is not an option due to the amount required, etc. - If anyone out there has any contacts or vendors, please email me directly at: firechief@san-juan-bautista.ca.us

Thanks, and be safe out there!

In the past we have used intertubes cut into narrow bands, its cheap and easy.

Have you talked to your local CDF? What about the Los Padres NF, or even south zone cache?

I agree. Why spend money on an item you can make from inner tubes?

Same here.... we have an endless supply of inner tubes from truck tires.... and when we lose them, no $$ loss to us.

I hate to put in a "me, too" but I have been lots of places all over the West and inner tubes outnumber red rubber bands by at least 10 to 1. I think the rubber bands are only the ones that come on the hose. When we get short of them I rustle one up from the tire store and throw it in the engine bay and eventually an explorer/intern/jr ff will get bored and cut it up and voila a whole new basket of rubber bands
