AMBULANCE OPERATOR- LONG BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT
Job Description
• Under general supervision provides basic medical care and transport to the ill and injured. Responds to emergency medical calls, and other emergencies as required. Participates in training, public education, station and equipment maintenance activities.
Minimum Requirements
• Minimum of one-year experience as an Emergency Medical Technician –I
• Current CPR card
• Must be 18 years of age or older and High School graduate or equivalent
• California Motor Vehicle License with Ambulance Driver Certification (DMV)
• Willingness to work any shift assignment including weekends, holidays, overtime and 24-hour shifts.
• Ability to safely and effectively operate an emergency vehicle.
• Ability to handle a high volume of emergency calls with tact and good judgment.
Selection Process
• Mail current resume postmarked by July 1, 2005, to address listed below.
• If hand delivered must be between June 27-July 1 between the hours of 8:00-4:00pm to the address listed below in the Lobby of the Port building.
• Candidates selected for interview process will need to provide copies of EMT-I card, CPR Card, CDL, Ambulance Driver Certification, High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Candidates who pass the interview process must pass background check and medical exam.
• Candidate will be required to pass an 80-hour training academy.
Compensation & Benefits
• $8.27/hour with time-and-a half for hours over 40/week
• Full-time schedule consists of both 24-hour shift work and 12-hour schedules.
• Full-time schedule includes City Benefits.
• Some part-time positions available (no benefits).
