ChemOperator

I was hoping i can get some help from some California veteran firefighters on this one. I love firefighting but in my current role as a chemical operator/industrial firefighter I dont see a lot of action. The job is great because i get some very specialized chemical training that is useful. As you probably know not many refinerys or chemical plants catch on fire anymore due to new safety protocols and precautions. Which is of course a very good thing.
Anyways, to the point, I have been thinking about crossing over into regular residential fire. The requirements are different i know, and am curious about the best way to enter the service. I.E (college courses that would help, People to talk to, Which channels to take)
-Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Andrew
