Looks like Ferrara is getting a lot of work making speacialist rigs for FDNY noticed the very early stages of a custom Hazmat rig for FDNY, looks a lot like the E-ONE Saulsbury rescue rigs.

Anyone got anymore info on these, is it a sign of things to come, perhaps a new rescue rig builder, be interesting to see how they hold up over the next few years might give an indacation of things to come if they work out?

It looks like FDNY is pleased with Ferrara or else they would not be getting contracts for so many pieces of apparatus. Way to go ferrara.

Kinda odd that they went with a Ferrara custom instead of a Mack

nwalder,

You work for FFA or own stock or what.

Actually, there are 3 or 4 posters on here who keep bringing up the great Ferrara take over of FDNY. The someone from NY gets on here and basically says "Yes, FDNY has a couple Ferrara units - they carry wood, supplies, and High Pressure Engines."

As I said before, if less than 10 trucks is a "lot of work", they are in trouble.

If they were so great as some would have you believe, then the FDNY would get rid of all the Seagrave's and everything else they have and completely switch to Ferrara. Which of course isn't going to happen! If you think it is, then hold your breath until they do it!

As I have said in other posts, Ferrara's and the other so called well built like ride, KME, WILL NOT HOLD UP to heavy running like FDNY does. They are pieces of junk. Have both of them, wish someone else had them now!

Checked on Ferreras web site, couldnt believe how much they have finished. Looks like it going to be a nice rig. Cant wait to see it finished. Anyone know the exact specs like length engine other little goodies.

cleveland has had this brand of rescue and it has fallen apart in but a few years and has been or is being replaced so dont go jumping for joy coz this builder is not known everywhere as so great. also the few rigs they made for fdny as pumpers someone posted were not all that good. so wait till the verdict is in.

I noticed on Ferarra's website that the new HAZMAT is being built out of stainless. Are all FDNY rigs spec'd this way or just the rescues or is this the first one? I also am curious about seating. How many personnel can the rescues carry? How about the engines and trucks? Just curious.

I can't speak for FDNY or all of their rescue and SOC rigs, but all of their Saulsbury bodied rigs (Rescue and Haz Mat), including the current ones, have had stainless steel bodies.

I also am curious about seating. How many personnel can the rescues carry? How about the engines and trucks? Just curious.

The Rescues have seating for two in the front and a bench seat for at least 4 men in the rear. Total=6

The Engines all have seating for 6 as most fire engines I'm familiar with do.

The Tower Ladder and Rearmount Ladders all have seating for 6.

The Tillers all have seating for 7.
