I will be attending the first class of the EFO Program in January. Has anyone completed the Executive Development class? If so, give me some details such as intensity, etc.

I have not entered this program as of yet, although many of our Chief Officers have completed the course. I can tell you it is a pretty intense course. The research papers take alot of time and dedication. You have I think 6 months after each class to complete your research project and turn it in. Good luck with the program and get the most out of it.

First of all, congratualations and good luck with the EFO program. I graduated from the EFO in 2002. I will try to give you a little insight into the program.

As Station2Capt stated it's a very intensive program for both the classroom and research projects. You will find that some of the classes will require prep work to be completed before you even arrive at the NFA. There is homewrok most nights that needs to be completed. There are group assignments which require after class hours to complete.

As for the Executive Development class, like the others that you will attend, is intense and alot of work. This is the class that will teach you how to write the research project. Each group is required to prepare a research project using the required format. During this time you will be able to start your project, do research etc. This is a good time to pick the brains of the instructors in developing your topic, problem statement etc.

You will find that the six month time frame to complete your research project will fly by. Remember that your job, family and friends are competing for your time. Make sure you give yourself time each week to work on the project, otherwise you may find yourself rushing to get it completed and submitted.

Good luck.

How did your executive development class in Jan go? I leave in two weeks for class and have completed my precourse work. You must be well on your way or almost finished with your first research paper? Can you share ideas and/or hints. Tim Gilsrud
