I am 21 yrs old and I already completed Fire Academy at a school in Texas. I am now in south Florida, and I'd like to move back to TX soon and join a department in Galveston County. However, I dont have my EMS cert yet, and I was wondering if I could take EMS here in FL and not have any problems getting hired in TX. Any advice? Also, is there any possibility of going through the hiring process while I'm still in FL, or would I definately have to be back in TX to start? Thanks.

First I'd check if Texas accepts the National Registry, if so the you could get that in Florida, if not check to see if there is a way to just test to get your license if you completed EMT in Florida(that would probably less of a headache to just take the class in Texas)

Second you could probably test for fire departments while still in Florida, that is if you keep flying back and forth to go to the orientations, tests(writen and physical), interviews, exc. just remember to be on time for each one. But it would probably be better just to move to Texas then test.

Really it would be much easier to move to Texas then test and get your EMT license, that is unless you like everything to be as hard as it could be. :p :)

Best wishes! :D
