I learned what the 4 classes of fire are and now Im wondering how would each class be attacked?

Also, in the case of Class A fires, what exactly is an "ordinary" combustible? The definition I read said wood, paper, and cloth, but how about plaster and paint on walls and carpeting and all that good stuff that a house or apartment has in it?

I searched all through the forums for a thread on this subject and couldn't find anything, but if this is a repeat, sorry in advance.

Im just starting, any and all help/advice is GREATLY appreciated!

As a general rule, if it leaves an ash or cinder when it burns, it's a Class A combustible. Class B (flammable liquids & gases) will either burn away completely or melt and run, as with plastics (remember, plastics are just flammable liquids in a solid state).

I'm sure there are exceptions, but generally that's a good way to remember.
