Man Killed By Pipe Bomb

Lovely, KY-- A 24-year-old Martin County man is dead the result of a pipe bomb explosion at a trailer park off Kentucky 292 in the Lovely community.

Kentucky State Police say two other men were hurt in the blast. The explosion occured at 9:23pm Sunday at Moore's Trailer Park.

Officers say Fletcher was taken to the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital where he died.

Two other men: 27-year-old David Jude of Lovely and 29-year-old David Kazee of Beauty were injured, but no other details were available about their injuries or conditions.

State police and A-T-F agents say the purpose of construction of the pipe bomb has not been determined.

I've done more than one case where the bombers actually blew themselves up. Could it be the case here?

A high school classmate made one and had it go off. He had to have shrapnel removed periodically for years afterwards. I also work with someone who, in their younger years, did the same thing. He's missing one finger and part of another, along with some truly impressive scars. The Erie County Sheriffs Dept Bomb Squad still tell his story as the poster-boy of 'don't try this at home'.
