Hey everyone, I've been cruisin around these posts for a few weeks now and finally joined. I'm 22 and working on getting onto a volunteer department so that I can have a shot at a FF-II academy and then I'm going to take my EMT-B. I'm even going to join with the 30,000 or so others that take the Chicago test if and when it comes up. Thank you all for all the info that I have obtained as of yet through the many different forums on here.

Sorry about that, I forgot to type the damn question.
Should taking the FF-II be my first priority before I take my EMT-B? The academy class seems hard to get into and not offered all the time, so I am going to do anything I can to get in that first I think.

I know that around here, most departments want a registered ff'er and then if they want you medically trained, they will send you. Most guys down here go through the academy and then go through medical training second.
that's my experience, but your area may be different.

That was my thoughts as well.
