Rumor is that kansas city, kansas will be hiring emts. They are suppose to take app. in january, maybe even in dec. There is a ff/medic class going through right now. They are always taking ff/medic classes. The talk is to hire 30-40 emts for the 1st class. The last class had 72 ff/emts in it. We run a little over 20,000 calls a year with around 700 actually fires a yr. We have 18 stations at this time, but there will be at least 1 if not 2 more to be built in the next couple of years.

Are you talking they will be hiring emts for emt positions or ff/emt positions? Also any residency requirements?

the take applications for ff/medic on a continous basis, but they are getting ready to take applications for ff/emt in january. i talked to someone this morning that confirmed this. the residency requirement is u have to live in wyondotte county. the county is basically kck, but it also has 2 small communities of about 5000 in one and 2000 maybe in the other. kck has a population of 160000. we stay busy for no bigger than the city is.

Do you have to live in wydonette county when you take the test, or when your appointed?

No hiring to the best of his knowledge, however the first of the year looks good for FF/EMT's

Residency within the county ( Wyandotte, KS) will be required after employment.
