Has anyone noticed on Firehouse USA the dress code seems very liberal?

Who gives a crap? Never had a person in a bad situation critize my clothes.

yea i agree with you. i was acutally really suprised at how liberal the uniform policy is in boston. now of course i dont know if that is the whole department or that particular station.

in my expierence on the professional side of fire/ems i have not seen any agencies that allowed such a wide variation in the dress of their employees.

i do also believe that uniforms do play a role, the old idea of "i have never had anyone who was hurt/sick/trapped/injuried critize what i look like" is a load of bs. my goal is to further my profession and all emergency services in general and a huge part of that is pubic perception. i want the public to see any organzation i am involved with as professional, fast, and effective. the bystanders on the side watching everything will notice you in your jeans or other seemingly not appropriate attire and they will make a mental note and they will share their feelings with others about you and therefore your organization.

and yes i was a volunteer for a while in fire and ems so i do know how that side of things goes as well.
