I’m going for my CPAT with Fairfax County, VA on the 18th. Part of the CPAT is a “document review” where they review the background packet. In the practice sessions they downplay this review as a simple sit down, it’s informal, no need to wear anything other than your sweats. My question is – should I consider this an oral interview or is this literally just a quick review of the paperwork? Just trying to get a sense of what to expect.

This is far from a oral interview, it like they call it a doc review. all their looking to do is make sure your packet is filled out and you provided them with all the additional paper work they asked for. I would worry more about the CPAT than this, the review only took 5mins to do. good luck

Firedude is right. Nothing to worry about. They just want to make sure you have all your stuff with you. CPAT is definitely what you should be focusing on. If you want to worry about something, worry about the StairClimber.

Thanks guys, I appreciate you helping me clear that up. I've been thinking so much about the CPAT I just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing something else. And yes, the stairs are going to be. . .um. . .fun! lol.

yes i've had a chance to attend 4 practice sessions and have been able to stay on the stairs each time. I've also been a gym rat for the past 10 weeks or so concentrating on general strength as well as cardio. So fingers crossed I can stay steady through it and finish under 10:20. wish me luck!
