Hi All,
I recently took the Seattle Fireteam test, and scored poorly on the Human relations video. It's possible I may be overthinking the test, but also got to thinking that maybe I could stand some teamwork skills development. I get along very well with all everybody usually, and don't have interpersonal conflicts with any of my coworkers, but anything that helps me out I'm all for. Anyhow, does anyone know of a book/class/video that will help me develop my teamwork and human relations skills?

I am by no means the expert on this test, I have taken it 3 times and the most recent time I made the Seattle cutoff by .8% (last year I missed it by that much, so I guess I am even).
I noticed that the more I take it, it gets a bit easier, because you know the scenarios and the characters, and can focus on judging them in the end. Also, since the first time I took it I did my EMT coursework, and that helped me in terms of what you are supposed to do in funny situations, and basic patient triage. Chief Lepore's book also helped me, just because he gives a lot of situational questions and good answers of what a firefighter would/should do.
I have seen similar posts on this forum and firecareers.com, there isn't a whole lot of advice out there. A lot of this is due to the non-disclosure stuff.
Hope this helps some

Thanks, I'm actually hoping to go a bit further and get some Teamwork development and Human Relations Skill building stuff, I figure if I learn that stuff better then the test stuff should fall in line. I do understand about the non-disclosure stuff, that's why I'm not asking for help on the actual test. What is the name of the book by Chief Lepore?

Chief Lepore's book is Smoke Your Firefighter Interview - www.smokeyourffinterview.com
I know you weren't asking specifically for answers to the test. I guess I was more trying to say that there aren't many books out there geared towards helping you improve teamwork and communication skills. It seems to be life experience. And even with that said, looking at the guys in my recruit academy who took the test, there wasn't much correlation with score and actual ability to work well in teams and communicate. The test favors individuals who have taken it before, and who have previous fire service experience (in my opinion).

Cool, Thanks. I have a buddy that owns that book, so I will borrow it from him. I guess I will just have to keep taking the ergo test and hopefully get better at it! Thanks again.

I agree with MikeyD1 wholeheartedly. I've never had communication or teamwork problems ever...and I didn't score that well on that particular test.
