I looking for information on line guns that can be used in water rescue. I done allot of research an use a few of them but looking for input from people who have used these devices. I'm not to happy from what I seen for the CMC line gun and have put alot of thought in a Bridger. Its cheaper in cost and shoots allot futher. What I would like you to tell me is what to do you like/ dislike abouts the line guns you have used. Any information will be helpfull to me, it just doesn't have to be about these two types of devices. Thanks for your time.

Go with the Bridger. The thing is a cannon! We got one last year. Can shoot different size loads, different strength line, and really easy to use. Just like any other gun though you have to clean it after every use. One nice feature is that you can get bright orange line for it. Just be real careful where you shoot. The projectile is a 10" brass rod.

If you don't need to shoot more than 150 or 200 feet, I'd check out the accurate and low-tech (and low cost) Sherrill Big Shot sling shot. It was designed for arborists getting up into trees, but it's been widely used for rope rescue as well.

What about the Rescue Rocket? That is what our department uses, however although I've used it I have nothing to compare it to. Not cheap, and takes some time to re-charge it (compressed air cylinder), if you are using it for a water rescue I don't think you'd ever have enough time to re-load it for a second try at that same scene.

I don't think the Rescue Rocket is made any more. I heard about the time it took to recharge them. Never really had chance to use one. This why I was asking about the line gun that CMC has on the market, if anyone has tried it yet or not. I would buy the line gue that TEA made years ago, but you can't get them with the line holder on top anymore. The mold for this was destroyed year ago in a fire. They were a nice compact unit.

We've been trying out the "Lucky Launcher II" http://www.luckydogequip.com/lucky2.html not exactly made for our stuff but will still take a line 70 + metres reliably (and you've just gotta love the name!)
